Backlight allows use of markdown to format content and have been able to easily format the site header to what I want. I am having trouble doing the same for the Wordpress blog header, where markdown is apparently not allowed. My immediate interest is formatting for superscript
The Backlight home page has a superscript for the site:
http://m2photojourney.com/
So far, I cannot duplicate it in Wordpress and I am using "Squared" in place of (superscript)2:
http://m2photojourney.com/blog/
CSS can be used but this is new to me. I have done some web searching in the topic but, so far, it seems surprisingly complex and I am quite confused on how to accomplish this. I have ordered a CSS book (thanks Rod), but am wondering if someone has some canned CSS code for this?
Thanks

Putting text inside tags works for me.
I used it in the page template used for the WP theme. You need to be using the Backlight WordPress add on for this to work.
Or are you not using a Backlight generated theme?
(I’m on my iPad at the moment and can’t probe the blog page)
I’ve not tried using html in a WordPress Site Title so I don’t know if M2 will work
If you’re not using the Backlight WP add on, try searching for a WordPress plugin that can do what you need.
Doing it with css looks a little tricky.

Does your theme allow for using a logo image instead of text? If so, just create what you need in Photoshop.

I am not using a Backlight generated theme, just because I found a native Wordpress theme that did most of what I want. However it will not allow use of Markdown in the title. I did generate a logo image but it did not look quite like I wanted (It takes up quite a bit more space at the top).
Now that I realize that The Backlight theme will allow markdown, I will go back and explore using the Backlight generated theme. I had also found the page you linked to and the CSS seems more trouble than it is worth. I think I will pass on that approach.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Backlight's WP theme does not support Markdown. Our approach to Wordpress is to keep things as vanilla as possible to minimize potential conflicts, and you can then add functionality using Wordpress plugins. There are plugins available that should allow you to use Markdown in the Wordpress editor.

Actually, it does allow markdown, at least in the title . I will look for the plugin and explore that option.
One small issue I am having with the Backlight generated theme is I cannot find the setting to choose summary vs full post presentation on the blog page. I know ther is a setting for this but cannot find it.

In the WordPress dashboard go to Settings > Reading: For each article in a feed, show. Choose Full Text
This is supposed to show the entire posts on the blog page.

I just tried it but it’s not showing the entire posts and I’m not sure why. I don’t have any caching plugins installed...

Finally got to look into this, and I'm not seeing any issue. Have you looked into the Appearance => Customize options I've included for Posts? You can toggle excerpts vs. full-posts therein.
