@Matthew: translation-problem

Matthew,
As promised I am working on a Dutch translation of TTG CE3 Theme for WordPress. At the moment I am working my way through some technical stuff, about formats for iPad and iPhone and so. Not the most interesting part, but it's there, so I keep on going, doing little parts each time I work on it. There is, however, one error in the translation I cannot get rid of.

To see what I mean, please be so kind to navigate to my site, where you enter the Blog homepage. I have place a reaction on my own post and there, as you watch closely, is the spot I have problems with.

The reaction starts with: "Eén antwoord to ...", being Dutch for "One answer to ..." The Dutch fragment should be "Eén antwoord op ..." The small English word "to" should be the Dutch "op."
The same goes for an error just a few lines lower. There you see: "Huub says", which must be "Huub zegt"
I know these are details, but hey, we're trying to do a truly good job here!

Until now I haven't been able to remove this errors, no matter how hard I tried, reading the nl_NL.po-file over and over again. In the source code I can see these fragments are inside a <div>...</div> part of the page. And that's where it ends for me.

Curious to know your opinion!

Best regards,
Huub Martens.

Re: @Matthew: translation-problem

It's on line 18 of comments.php.

Change the word "to" to:

<?php _e( 'to', 'ce3' ); ?>

I'm making the change locally, so it will appear in the next update.

Re: @Matthew: translation-problem

Matthew,

I just finished my Dutch-translation for the TTG CE3 Theme for WordPress! Okay!! Of course I have gone through several checking-sessions. Not without result:

The only problem left is when I visit my Dashboard and go to Appearances -Theme Options - (tab) Basic Settings.
There are some lines remaining in English, which do have translated in the nl_NL.po-file.
For some reason the change-to-Dutch is not effective her on these English fragments.
What may be the reason?

I don't know. They're all setup for translation.

@Rod: I can see that (in fact, I already saw it), but how can I attach two files at the message?

Re: @Matthew: translation-problem

when I click on one of those email links it opens my email program (Outlook). Then I'd just attach (or insert) the files as I would for any email. There's usually an icon with a paper clip, or an Insert menu item, or you can just drag the file into the email and it will automatically attach.

Re: @Matthew: translation-problem

Well, there you have the reason for the misunderstanding: on my iMac I do not use Outlook, but Mail from Apple, which doesn't open automatically!? Irritating, but true.
But it gets even stranger: when I click on "email" below the picture in YOUR posts, Mail opens immediately!?
What to do?

Re: @Matthew: translation-problem

Matthew:

I fixed the error that caused Huub says instead of Huub zegt.

It's all in functions.php, within the Custom Comment Layout (starting in line 286), where in line 296 I changed says in Dutch zegt.

Is this of any use for you?

Re: @Matthew: translation-problem

Yes, I received your email. Haven't opened it yet, though, as I haven't gotten around to spending any time on the WordPress plugin recently.

I'm confused by the says/zegt issue above. I just looked into the functions.php file, and that entire string should be ready for localization without changes. Was there some problem with it?

Re: @Matthew: translation-problem

First: I apologize for the repeated question at the end of my answer in the "Help!" topic.

Yes, like I told you, no matter how I tried with PoEdit, I just couldn't change that one little part in a post-answer/reaction.
The change in functions.php did the trick. I am too much an amateur (like I've proven yesterday evening, blush blush) to know if this is the right way to handle this issue. What I did was backing-up the functions.php-file for future use.

(and, as you know, this future is very nearby ..... wink)
