after applying the fix I was able to select 3 images i then made comments on one and saved. I then went to the feedback area and there was feedback, except for the commented and selected image. Neither was it listed as selected. Since then i have been able to select images and open the comments dialog. yet i cannot edit nor comment on other images. I don't know whether this is linked to the fact I closed the feedback for the original image, there is no reopen option. I have recoded the browser etc
Forgot to answer last time i upgraded from 1.01
Feedback under integration checked, Unfortunately the website is not live but running locally. I decided to learn configure and setup Backlight, as i did with CE4 and Bootstrap etc. on a local mac.
I can change the icons etc yet they do not respond when clicked on
One extra point when hovering over the heart or pencil icon the cursor changes to the tradition pointing hand
This link may help as it is a screen shot of the page using Inspect in Chrome
I have both selection and feedback icons on my Thumbnails however they do nothing when i click on then. Neither do any icons on the top right of the main single image?
So it is one or the other. supose I was too tied up in my previous system.
I am trying to setup my client side response gallery with some simple password protection.
I aim to have an album set in which there are password protected albums. Previously I would publish my Album then control access using htaccess files etc.
With Backlight I thought I would use the password protection in publisher under the features tab. I have had some funny and difficult to explain results as they change when I clear the browser cache (Mac/Google Chrome). The album thumbnails are visible but I am asked to a password to see individual image, however sometimes I am asked for an email to login, which I don’t have. If I remove password requirements all is ok, well except for another issue with not being able to select or give feedback to images.
I have set up a single client but not applied it to the album, I am confused
Each of my clients will have a single album generally so I don’t want to have an album set for each client.
Currently my site is not live as I am learning and converting using my local server
Where do i change the gallery text
Thank you, I suddenly remembered what I did in CE4 which is exactly what you said. Time to explore more much quicker design process that using Lightroom web module.
I have created a completely new instance of publisher service to test and develop my gallery prior to moving over from CE4.
I tried converting from CE4 but that gave me two nested album sets and some missing albums. So I decide to start from scratch and created a new instance for publisher, pointing to my local development site.
Having published my albums everything works fine except that the gallery page has empty thumbnail frames.
The structure is 4 album sets containing between 3 and 6 albums.
I have republished, updated album sets etc etc but they are still missing. I had to do something when I created my CE4 gallery but cannot remember what, and i think it was due to having created a top level Album index for the sub indexes.
the windows issue it not really important as I will publish to the live site which is Linux. Its just that it is easier to test locally before going live with a new setup. The publish worked ok it is only the viewing of gallery images that is an issue but if I copy to too my mac then all is viewable. The issue was then re-publishing to the copy from lightroom. Now that I have found that republish does not mean what I expected then I can fix that. It is just a pity that re-publish does not reset all as this fixed a few issues in CE3 when I added new links etc to the templates.
Anyway thanks for the help and comments
No I don't create a new publisher instance I just copy the two folders ttg-be an galleries. I then change the API path in the existing publisher instance in the lightroom catalogue that is copied to the local HDD on the laptop. Sound messy but it isn't especially as most of it is semi automatically synced. Means I can try out things on an actual copy of the final gallery. I have done this successfully for some time with CE3. I have also had CE3 successfully publishing on a windows 7 machine with PHP then syncing if required. Have also successfully published CE4 on windows but cannot see thumbnails nor open the slideshow by clicking on the thumbnail. Placeholder are visible only.
Anyway test is just finished and I can confirm that it appears that the technique I used before just to make sure everything was ok, does not work on CE4. That is I republish the album sets and galleries without uploading images. Right clicking and selecting Mark to republish on an Album Set does not actually republish the album set, or re set/relink to the template folders reliably.
I discovered this when I right clicked on an album set and selected go to published Album and it tried to go to sp-wildphotography.local not the actual site ce4-gallery.site. Plus one of the album sets gave an error message saying it could not find the template file (the same one the others use). The fix was to edit the album sets change the template click on edit the change the template back and republish. After republishing all paths are reset to the correct location.
So in conclusion it would be useful if republish did a more complete job on album sets making sure that all links to template locations etc were refreshed. This is a general comment not just to satisfy my weird use
Not yet worked out how to add screen shoot. But it is on the same line as the TTG CE$ Publisher text and logo, next to the publish button. Its starts of with in my case sp-wildphotography.local/galleries/album......... the sp-wildphotography.local is the host name on another machine not the one I am using at the moment to test transporting my galleries. on this machine it should be ce4-gallery.site/galleries/ ........ I am looking into reasons why I am having difficulties porting my galleries around I always copy the ttg-be as well as the galleries folder to maintain the database. However republishing has turned to be somewhat of a trial with stack overflows republishing finishing with images still to go. So until I am happy there is a stable product and I can upload/ publish images on the go I will stick to CE3 for live galleries.
The path shown in the bar above images in lightroom is incorrect it changes as you change Album or Album set however the leading section prior to /galleries is not the same as where I am publishing to Tested this and I am actually publishing to the correct location as set in the Publisher Services configuration..
I want to sort out issues like this and confirm that all works on a local machine prior to syncing to a live server due to migration problems. To this end I have copied the ttg-be folder and gallery folder to another local server on a different machine with different root url name, lightroom is still showing the old one.
So could you tell me where lightroom gets this from and how to change it or allow it to be picked up from the Published Services setup.
Yes thanks just remembered how I did it. Took posting here to get the grey cells working. Your comment is exactly what I needed to do, I just copied a random sample of thumbnails from each gallery within the index and put them in the thumbnails folder
Thanks for the quick response
I have had to recreate from scratch my CE3 structure as the migration tool did not work. I have a man index page that links to 5 other index pages which then contain grouped galleries.
How do I get a random thumbnail image from the underlying index album on each of the index Album links of the Main index. I had this working in CE3 but cannot remember how
