After innumerable false starts, problems and re-dos, my portfolio Creepyhouse.net is finally up and presentable. Creepyhouse features not just photographs but galleries covering a lot of my interests, including illustration, animation, and 3D graphics.

Thanks to TTG for making me appear to be a java and CSS genius!

OK, never mind, I got it. Thanks for your help!

#103 Re: CE4 Gallery » Thumbnail Titles Not Showing » 2015-01-24 11:06:40

OK, tried that, including refreshing two browsers. Updated the template in /ttg-be/templates/gallery/Gallery-Car_Logos. No luck.

I cannot seem to get the image thumbnail titles to show here:

I've gone through everything I can think of, but evidently I've missed something. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ahhhhhh. You know much that is hidden, oh Rod. I'll do that immediately.

One thing that would help is that I cannot get  Preview in Browser to work at all with Lightroom. It would be a huge help, but neither IE 11 nor Firefox will work. They always complain they can't find the right files.

#106 Re: CE4 Gallery » Gallery Formatting Not Uploading » 2015-01-15 02:23:12

These are being sent to /gallery; that's where Publisher has been sending them. Are they supposed to be in ttg-be? The template is supposed to be CS4 Gallery - Car Logos. I'll look at the template's text and fix the margins. The background icon color is supposed to be the same as the color in the Navigation Container. I'm going to try fixing margins and repost.

#107 Re: CE4 Gallery » Gallery Formatting Not Uploading » 2015-01-15 01:28:44

You're right that the odd shapes must have been some browser cache issue.

Here's what I have it set up to look like. Also, it uploaded the wrong text.

Thanks again for your continued help and patience.

Now things are even more screwy. I tried republishing new images, but the old images are still there. They have just taken on the size of the new images and are distorted. I tried deleting and republishing the gallery. Same result. Something is definitely messed up here.

#109 Re: CE4 Gallery » Gallery Formatting Not Uploading » 2015-01-14 15:00:32

Are you referring to the tab that says Page Content > Page copy placement? I see Replace Template Copy, Position New Copy Above Existing, and another one for below. Is that what you mean?

I'm working on CE4 Galleries. I set up the gallery formatting and then make sure I save the template. I then publish the gallery, but the formatting for the various thumbnails does not carry over. This is driving me nuts.

  • I have made sure that shared resources is turned off in CE4 Pages.

  • I have updated to the latest versions of everything.

  • I have cleared and remade all Publisher galleries and started over with them as well.

Still the same problem.

My URL is http://creepyhouse.net. If you look at the gallery called Car Logos the thumbnails should have the same style formatting as the gallery thumbnails and the page in general. But they are too small, and have no borders or background color. And the text for the gallery is not uploading, even though as I recall it used to. I can't see a tool in the Publisher controls that says to retain the text in from the template.

Heads take more damage than walls. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

OK, I am officially pounding my head on the wall. I am still having the same problem as above. I'm going to post this in a separate thread.

#112 Re: CE4 Gallery » Removing a Gallery » 2015-01-14 08:06:27

I'll look at that. Thanks one again.

#114 Re: CE4 Gallery » Removing a Gallery » 2015-01-14 06:50:40

Rob, I've tried the changes you suggested. but when I publish the gallery still shows up without any of the formatting changes I've specified in Publisher. The thumbnails should be larger and have a order and background color. The social media buttons should be much larger.

#115 Re: CE4 Gallery » Removing a Gallery » 2015-01-14 06:06:04

Thanks. I just edit the text in Dreamweaver and copy and paste, so it's no big deal. I'll change the settings you recommend.

#116 Re: CE4 Gallery » Removing a Gallery » 2015-01-14 05:48:00

Thanks again Rob. Just one other minor thing if that's OK. I'm working on galleries and when I have them ready to go they look fine, like this:

screen1.jpg

But when I publish the gallery it looks like this:

http://creepyhouse.net/galleries/El-Rey … umentation

The description is missing and the images aren't formatted correctly. Is this the template? I did update it. The settings in Publisher?

#117 Re: CE4 Gallery » Removing a Gallery » 2015-01-14 04:56:38

OK, it's complaining about some kind of globals being on, "which is bad." I'll ask Matthew. How do I send him a message?

#118 Re: CE4 Gallery » Removing a Gallery » 2015-01-14 04:54:52

I'll take a look. If I get cold feet I'll call Matt and beg for mercy!

#119 Re: CE4 Gallery » Removing a Gallery » 2015-01-14 04:31:44

Well, what's involved in deleting it from the database?

#120 Re: CE4 Gallery » Removing a Gallery » 2015-01-14 04:06:50

I deleted the album online by mistake. Is there a way to tell Publisher it isn't there anymore?

I need to take a gallery down and replace it with something else. Publisher says it can't find it. Do you just delete the gallery in galleries, or is there something else that should be removed as well?

Hope you aren't getting tired of my questions!

#122 Re: CE4 Gallery » Galleries main page confusion » 2015-01-14 03:33:15

You were right, but there was something screwy there. I had to redo the catalog before it would finally work. Thanks very much!

#123 CE4 Pages » Second Page Image Not Showing Up » 2015-01-13 11:39:52

I'm adding Page Images to the various sections of my CE4 Pages setup. In this case I'm trying to add an image to the About page. There are two images in a collection called Main Page under a Collection Set called Creepy House. If I select the first one, it works great, as you can see:

1.jpg

But if I try the second one I get an error:

2.jpg

I have set the Page image to number 2, and the picture of me is the second in the list. It isn't too big, and it is set up exactly the same as the first image. They are both from the same directory on my hard drive.

Most likely this is something fairly simple, but I'm stumped. What gives?

Thanks,

Darrell Leland

#124 Re: CE4 Pages » Confused! » 2015-01-13 11:29:14

Hi 4thdesign:

The first thing you should do is just get CE4 Pages working on our machine. Then use the export feature that is in Lightroom on the lower right. Send it to your desktop or someplace else that's easy to find. Use your FTP package to copy everything inside that folder to the root directory of whatever your root directory is. Then start dealing with ttg/be. It was a pain for me too. Is there anything I could explain more clearly?

OK, I have CE4 Pages up and running, and after some head bashing I now have my first gallery up and looking OK. Yay. Now I'm confused thoroughly about exactly which application controls the main gallery page. My guess is that you set up one dummy gallery using CE4 Pages and that after you'd uploaded the proper templates all successive galleries will look the same. CE4 Galleries is the place to make the gallery itself, right?

And yet CE4 Gallery has most of the same stuff as Pages, and it's all different. I've done the copy and paste templates trick and that seems to work well. But it's all very confusing. Does Pages control the main galleries page or Galleries?
