#76 Re: General » Should I get Backlight now » 2017-02-20 08:04:32

Hi Rod, I'll just republish the albums with the new publisher then, I have a 20Mb upload speed so wont take too long.
I think maybe I'll just install backlight directly on my host route directly then to a domain/testpage. I assume when I'm happy with it I can just move all the files to the route ? Would I have to then republish the albums from lightroom I use for testing or can I just change the publishing directory in lightroom publish settings ?

Thank guys for the info. In one of Matts earlier blogs talking about Backlight he demonstrated in a video using mamp and coda. Do I need coda in order to test the new site with backlight? In CE3 I'm using publisher. Does a new version of publisher come with backlight ? Can I keep both versions of publisher in lightroom while testing? Lastly ( sorry for all the questions ) Can I do some testing in mamp on my laptop while the install of lightroom is on another mac in the house ? Is there a way to have a local host that works for both machines and be able to publish a gallery ? Thank you in advance

Hello, I'm still using CE3 plugins, I know I know but hey it works so...The time has come to give the site a refresh so was looking into backlight. Obviously it's completely different and a little daunting to learn it all over again. With Matthew's recent announcement that there is a big update coming should I wait before buying all the backlight components ?

Thanks for the relies, It would be good to have a slideshow on the home page and be able to easily publish new images to the slide as and when. Hopefully this will come. A quick way to publish a background image without css would be great also. Fingers crossed

Thanks Rod but I don't have or want to have a youtube account. I'll wait for stage to come out, hopefully a simple way to add a background image to Backlight will come with future updates as well. I like where Backlight is going, I just think it's a bit too early ( for me ) to change just yet. When Stage is available I get Backlight, Pages, CRG, and stage. Hopefully all in a bundle.

Hi, is it possible to play a video in backlight ?
Also the link for CRG demo in the latest blog post does't work on my browser ( safari ) http://backlight.theturninggate.net/gal … -response/

That's great thanks for the replies. I look after my partners site and in the past with CE3 it has been a bit of a headache when I haven't done it for a while and have to remember what to put where when making changes. With Backlight it looks to be a simpler operation. I just know she will want the site to look the same, so before I make the change to Backlight just need to check I still have the flexibility. She uses the CRG of CE3 I suppose I can still keep a link to that before CRG for backlight comes out ?

Hi is it still possible to have a slide show on the home page ? Also a plain white or coloured background is fine I suppose but is it possible to add background images like it was in CE3 ?

What I'm really asking is if I'm going to be able to recreate the site I made in CE3 with Backlight

Thanks
