you would need to use some custom css to hide the first child in the breadcrumb list as well as the first "arrow" .

This looks like it works:

Unfortunately, that eliminated all breadcrumbs above the immediate precedent, which didn't really work well for 3-level deep menus.  I ended up just turning off breadcrumbs, which I think works for me.  Since I have a full hierarchical menu, the user can just mouse there to go anywhere else in the system.

Thanks for the suggestion, but unless a brainstorm hits someone (or this thread results in a tweak of the UI), I'll consider this resolved.

The entire site got republished overnight, and the errant watermarks are now gone.  Please mark this as resolved...

My site has my blog as the home page. I then have 30 or so galleries from various travels and events.  I do want breadcrumbs, to allow a person to easily walk back up the chain.

However, the menu system is including "galleries" which for me is nothing but a holding pen for the various albums.  It is not intended as a destination.

Is there a way to limit breadcrumbs to everything _except_ that master "galleries" entry?

For an example, see -- http://www.mindstormphoto.com/galleries … galapagos/

Uncheck those checkboxes. If they are checked, the photos won't be updated and the watermarks won't be changed.

Yep, they were turned off, as part of earlier instructions given to me in this thread.

HOWEVER, breakthrough!

I had the 'features' on each album different to see if any would work.  I just found that if I have the watermark turned off on the Publisher, _and_ the album feature set to "let Lightroom manage watermarks" then the watermark does indeed finally go away!

No other combination of settings seemed to do it.  I am now republishing the entire library again, and hopefully will now have this licked, and the site ready to announce to my adoring public. smile

rod barbee wrote:

After making changes like this you will need to republish the images.

Besides the watermarking control in Publisher settings, there's a control under the Features tab of the Create/Edit album dialog box.

The Album dialog has some set to "let Lightroom handle," some to "do not watermark" and some to "<specific watermark>" so that I can test all combinations.

The watermark has been turned on in the TTG Publisher, as has both checkboxes allowing update without changing the main photo.  I then let it publish the set.

All of them still have the blasted png watermark I first created the albums with... sad

An example is here -- http://www.mindstormphoto.com/galleries/art/2014show/

I then created a brand new album, with a single image to test. Told it 'no watermark'.  It works properly.

Example of the new test here -- http://www.mindstormphoto.com/galleries/art/test/

I hope this doesn't mean I am going to have to delete all 29 albums and start from scratch to get rid of that watermark... sad

Bingo!  Didn't even know about that lock, but I must have clicked it by mistake.  Just Googled "iphone rotation lock" and found where the control is. Turned it off, and it now rotates properly on my phone too.

Thanks.  And please mark this as resolved.

Check to make sure that neither the "Push metadata without updating existing photos" or the "Publish thumbnails without updating other renditions" are checked in Publisher settings.

Ah... BOTH are checked.  I will try it again after turning those off.

Gonna take awhile for the 970 images in the 29 galleries... smile

your images rotated on my iPhone 6. Have you tried clearing browser cache?

hmmm... It doesn't rotate on my iPhone 5.   I just tried it on my wife's iPhone 6, and it _does_ rotate there...?

I also see that when she runs Chrome on her iPhone 6, the menus do not show up (the ones created in CE4 on the main page).  I had to switch to Safari to use my site on her phone (I default to Safari on mine).

To be clear, I have clicked the first image while my phone is held vertically.  I then swipe to a photo such as the flying goldfish (very wide image) and rotate my phone to horizontal.

The image does not rotate on the phone.

#60 Re: Backlight Support » Watermarks on images? » 2016-07-02 12:42:15

I selected every album under TTG Publisher, chose "mark for republish," then pressed the Publish button and waited until it was done.

On Firefox, I then did a refresh of the album page.  When complete, clicked on a photo and scrolled through images.  They all still have the watermark...? sad

Here is one page with the problem -- http://www.mindstormphoto.com/galleries/art/mercado/

(I also switched to Safari, which had never seen this website before, in case there was a caching problem.  Safari also sees the watermarks where there should be none.)

I now have my gallery just about ready to show the world, other than one watermarking question I posted a few minutes ago.

However, when I bring it up on an iPhone, I see that the image displays do not detect phone orientation and rotate accordingly.  That is, if I come to a landscape image, I rotate the phone to landscape mode, but the image remains firmly in portrait orientation.

Doesn't Backlight support device orientation detection?

#62 Re: Backlight Support » Watermarks on images? » 2016-07-02 11:32:00

Now I have the opposite problem -- I cannot eliminate the watermark??

I had told LR Publisher to use my PNG watermark, and told all albums to let LR manage watermarks.  It all worked.

Unfortunately, I have found that a universal watermark won't really work -- the color of the watermark and its location need to change to meet the needs of each image.  I therefore told LR Publish to not use watermarks (turned off the check box).  All my images still have the png watermark though?

I then created a blank text watermark.  No text, no shadow, opacity of zero. Called it "Blank" and told LR Publish to use that watermark.  However, it still shows my prior png watermark.

I tried changing the albums to use a different watermark, instead of "let LR manage" -- you guessed it, the png watermark still shows.

How do I now get rid of the universal watermark, so I can use Photoshop to add a specific mark to each image independently?

#63 Re: Backlight Support » Backlight and CE4 Wordpress » 2016-07-02 11:26:33

Please mark this is resolved.

I have also now resolved the duplicate menu issue that I alluded to in my earlier comment here.

#64 Re: Backlight Support » Duplicated Menu Items? » 2016-07-02 11:25:29

Please mark this issue resolved.

The problem was that I had manually entered the sub-menus, but had also clicked the item to include submenus up to 3 levels.  That resulted in two versions of each sub-menu.

I have now gone back and renamed my albums such that they can auto-add to the menu and look as desired.

#65 Backlight Support » How to make BOLD and LARGER title on photo album? » 2016-07-01 12:58:57

I understand how to tie the caption and/or title to the photo album display.  How can I make that text larger and bolder, so that it shows up more clearly?  Right now, it is barely noticeable on a large display.

I guess that means, I would like the size/style to vary on display size too then, since it should probably not be large and bold on a phone screen...?

I am guessing this would be some custom CSS code.  Not being a web developer, I would appreciate the magic soup to insert, if that is the case.

#66 Re: Backlight Support » Where does "title" show on "large image" of album display? » 2016-06-30 23:43:45

CE4 put the title above and the caption below.  I would have preferred that approach again, but I guess I can live with this limitation.

If they are to appear on the same line, I would want a delimiter between them, probably colon or dash.  However, if there is no title, I would not want the delimiter.  Is there a way to indicate that an item is to be conditional, based on whether a field is empty or not?

That is, something along the lines of:

     {Title} <colon if Title is not empty> {Caption}

?

I am using the normal album display, with 'masonry'.  When the album shows, I click on an image.

I can see the description below, but I do not see the 'title' anywhere. It is set to show in the template, and the image has one in Lightroom, but I do not see it on the image display.

Here is an example of that -- http://www.mindstormphoto.com/galleries … id=1&pid=1

Problem resolved itself when I rebooted my Mac.  Seems that only restarting the Finder after using Terminal to turn on hidden wasn't enough...?

Is there a way to indicate a topic is resolved, so others don't waste time on it going forward?

Sorry.  I broke the entire set while building sets in Lightroom and didn't realize it.  Try again now.

The menu on the main page is created by Wordpress as you note.  Choose 'Art' and you go into the Backlight stuff.  They will be integrated later.

Or just go to -- http://www.mindstormphoto.com/galleries … galapagos/

You can see the Backlight problem on that page.

So far I have created one "album set" and six "albums."  I have created a menu in which the person can go to the 'set' or any of the 'albums' directly.  The albums are all sub-menus under the set name ("art").

This all works fine, except for one problem -- all the album names are duplicated, and not even in the same order.  For example, my menu now shows:

Art
   Galapagos
   Mercado
   Landscapes
   Still Life
   Art Show 2014
   Sculptures
   Galapagos  (starts to repeat here?)
Landscape  (and not in the same order?)
   Mercado
   Sculpture
   Still Life
(and doesn't include "Art Show" in duplicated section)

Any idea what is going on?  This can be seen at www.mindstormphoto.com

Thank you. That solved this problem!

I am now having a problem with duplicated menus, but I will open a new post for that, rather than start meandering here.

I had a website built by CE4 Wordpress.  I installed Backlight + Pages.  Now all I have is the generic BL sample site...?

If I try to migrate from CE4 to BL, I am told that Publisher is not found, even though I have the three directories together, as the instructions state.

I don't mind too much if I have to recreate the albums, as they are straight-forward.  I don't want to lose my CE4 Wordpress page layout and all 300+ blog entries though.

Does BL work properly with "CE4 Theme for Wordpress"?  If so, are there instructions somewhere how to marry them, so that BL creates the albums and album sets, but I keep all my existing page and blog info from CE4 Wordpress?

I received the file "Backlight-Pages-102.zip" -- when I unzip it, I have all the files expected, except the ".htaccess" file.  I have verified that I can see hidden files in the finder (even did the Terminal command just in case), and tried to look at the folder in two different ftp programs (Interarchy and CuteFtp on the Mac).  It just ain't there...

Can you either send me the needed file, or tell me what the contents of that file should be, so that I can create one myself?

BTW, why is there no search command on this forum?  Nearly impossible to see if someone else has already asked this question (and hopefully gotten an answer)...?

Does BL support inserting watermarks on images?  How about being able to specify which watermark per image?

I have a standard watermark that I use, but it is a PNG and I have both a white and a black version.  Depending on the image, I may need to use one or the other to have it show appropriately.

Can BL support this?
