Ben - I have a quick question regarding Backlight on this matter. Does Backlight 2 use cookies and if yes, for what purpose? As a website owner using Backlight as the tool for my site, I don’t personally use cookies but may collect personal data through my contact/sales page and can deal with that. It would help to understand if Backlight uses them somehow without our knowledge.
I’ve been wondering since these conversations started on the forum. Thanks.
Andy - when you are at the page list click on the name of the page, not the edit button, you want to delete. You will then see several options and one is the delete button.
thanks Matthew!
sorry I couldn’t help - hopefully someone else has some ideas.
you might try turning off the background image just to see if that helps.
What about the size of the background image you use for the masthead? I looked at your site and it really does load slow - but I also noticed the background image is eventually the first to load and then it speeds up from there. My first attempt on my site was similar until I discovered that background image was up over 20 mb. Once I scaled it back to 1 mb or less, along with the size of all of my images, it straightened out.
Daniel - what file size and format are your images? Only time I had this problem was using too large an image file and it dragged down the download.
Thanks Matthew - I have an iPhone and the horizontal menu is not activated on it - just vertical. The slight widening to 300 px covers the title length for that block and does not seem to change anything on the vertical so I think I’m ok with it.
I personally prefer the Title > Caption > file name sequence. Thanks Matthew!
Jim - great guidelines but the biggest problem I see is reworking the file names. I think most of us set up file naming structure to be able to find an image among thousands in our files and folders, and not something descriptive such as a caption. It may solve one issue and really create another.
Matthew and Rod - in light of Daniel’s information regarding ADA compliance in this Backlight 2 post today: http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … p?id=10509
it would seem even more appropriate to find a way to allow plain text for the alt tag on photos - i.e. the Title field, as this is one of the ADA compliance points cited.
Thanks.
thanks Rod - much appreciated!
Quick question: Is there a way to size the width of the dropdown submenu tray so that album titles are not cut off? I could not find a setting for it so assume there may be some CSS that might work? Thanks!
works great - thanks Ben!
Matt - I am seeing the same problem - I noticed it yesterday and it is still showing up today.
Thanks Matt!
Thanks Rod - the update appears to have fixed the double image issue for me.
I have the double image problem on mine as well. Tried everything I could think of and no resolution of the issue. I disconnected WP from my website temporarily in hopes a solution would show up on the forum.
Here’s an example of Rod’s idea implemented. More work but I do like it better than having them all on one page. https://terrancealexander.com/galleries … panoramas/
perhaps an option to add a separation line between multiple panorama images below the caption
Not a problem Matt - Rod’s CSS took care of it nicely!
I’ve played around with some of the adjustments and come up with a preliminary integration on my website. If anyone is interested you can see it at: https://terrancealexander.com/?page=pano
I think it works pretty well - thank you Matt, Ben Rod and whoever else had a hand in getting it as an option for us.
Rod - after multiple tries and clearing the cache it now works - time to figure out integration to the site. The extra code in my custom CSS was left over from when I was experimenting with other pano methods. Forgot it was there. Thanks for your help.
thanks - I’ll give it a try
Rod - thanks for the CSS. I did try clearing the cache several times and no effect. I also went back in to republish the album thinking that may clear it and still no changes.
