#26 Re: Backlight Support » Custom BL PHP for WordPress? » 2017-12-06 05:40:59

Charlie, how did you test for a particular  WP  page? is_page() is apparently not available. I suppose one could parse and test the hook's $path parameter. But I suspect that there is an easier way, but haven't found it yet.

Can BL's custom backlight.php be used for customizing WordPress pages when using a BL generated theme? Specifically, I'd like to use  the ttg_head hook to insert something into a particular WP page's <head>. TIA!

Just a heads up that I experienced the following after moving two v1.2.3 BL websites across hosting providers... After the moves, everything was behaving as before, except both websites were not displaying mastheads, on both desktops and mobiles. Everything looked fine in BL Designer -- needed uploaded image files were listed as present and templates also listed the correct images. I fixed the problem by deleting the uploaded files and then re-uploading them, and re-selecting them in the templates. Something that might explain the cause is the fact that the websites were moved to different directory locations relative to the hosting account's root. So, maybe somewhere in BL an absolute path is being used?

#30 Re: Backlight Support » Responsive Grid truncation upon small display rotation » 2017-10-21 01:13:17

Thanks, Matt -- I see that the Slideshow WP plugin I'm using hasn't been updated in 3 yrs. :-(  Time to switch!

#31 Re: Backlight Support » Publishing large photo sets aborts with server 12152 code » 2017-10-20 06:41:09

After much time spent with GoDaddy support (& indirectly with their cPanel team), the conclusion is that, for GoDaddy shared cPanel accounts, there is no way to avoid the DOS blockage during large Lr publishings. They recommended migrating to a VPS Linux account where apparently one can set their own parameters (like mod_security).

#32 Re: Backlight Support » Responsive Grid truncation upon small display rotation » 2017-10-20 03:56:03

I just simplified the grid:

<div class="grid_12">
<div class="col_4">Welcome to my photography and travel website. Feel free to explore my photo galleries and blog!</div>
<div class="col_8">[slideshow_deploy id='802']</div>
</div>
<!-- .grid_12 -->

and t still has the problem.

My newly migrated BL Pangolin website http://rick.samcos.com has its /galleries managed by BL and all other pages managed by Wordpress using a theme generated by BL's WordPress module. My WordPress home page is very simple and is formatted with TTG's responsive grid_12:

<div class="grid_12">
<div class="col_4 gutter_12px collapse clearfix">Welcome to my photography and travel website. Feel free to explore my photo galleries and blog!</div>
<div class="col_8 gutter_12px collapse clearfix">[slideshow_deploy id='802']</div>
</div>
<!-- .grid_12 -->

The grid's columns get stacked (as they should) on a small displays (e.g., iPhone6s). But the page gets truncated when the device is rotated from landscape to portrait. It appears to me that the page contents don't get resized and therefore spill off the right edge. A page refresh does correctly resize the page.

#34 Re: Backlight Support » Search returning wrong album » 2017-10-20 00:14:10

Thanks, Ben! But I'm with Daniel in that the explanation of the bug doesn't seem quite right.

#35 Re: Backlight Support » Search returning wrong album » 2017-10-19 06:48:05

Ben, just created an ftp account for you & emailed you login credentials.

#36 Re: Backlight Support » Backlight Customization Questions » 2017-10-19 03:23:54

got it!

/* photoswipe share icon */
.fancybox-button--pallet::before {
    content: "\f064";
}

#37 Re: Backlight Support » Backlight Customization Questions » 2017-10-19 03:16:06

Ummm, Rod -- that thread addresses turning off a share choice "under" the button/link I want to change. In any case, with my limited CSS knowledge, I extrapolated from that & tried:

li.share {
    content: "\f064";
}

but to no effect.

#38 Re: Backlight Support » Backlight Customization Questions » 2017-10-19 02:54:32

It appears that the css selector for the share icon has changed in pangolin ... is the large image presentation share link/icon still customizable?

#39 Re: Backlight Support » Search returning wrong album » 2017-10-19 01:43:08

Thanks, Daniel, for discovering the one image with erroneous "garnet" caption -- it's been edited and that image is no longer in the search results (and therefore its "Iceberg Lake" album no longer appears in search results either).

Rod, I double-checked that the "Garnet Lake" album does NOT have "hide from search" checked.

Ben, I should point out that there are lots of other search result anomalies -- the "garnet" one is just one easy-to-describe example.  I've mailed you a link to the master.sq3 file (30MB) so that you can download it. BTW, I am half way through the process of republishing the metadata for all albums in my database (since it didn't come across as part of migration and the GoDaddy DOS "bug" makes republishing a slow process). In other words, my database won't be stable for another day or two.

I just migrated from CE4 to BL and search results are a little wonky. My understanding is that searches are based on image keywords, file names & captions, and album titles. I am searching on a word and the results show correctly matching images, but the found album is wrong. It is actually a peer album of the one which should be returned (i.e., the incorrectly matched album is in the album set with the album that should match).

The website is http://rick.samcos.com, the search is for the word "garnet", and the album that should be found is titled "Garnet Lake" in the album set http://rick.samcos.com/galleries/j-2013/2-Ritter-Range/. Instead the incorrectly found album is the peer album "Iceberg Lake" which doesn't have "garnet" in its title, body text, or any of its images' captions or keywords.

I have republished the entire album set's metadata without effect.

How can I further diagnose this problem?

#43 Backlight Support » Phantom albums after running CE4->BL migration script » 2017-10-18 09:34:09

Replies: 2

After running the migration script on my CE4 website, I have ended up with two "phantom" albums which show up in a album set but don't exist on the website. They have no thumbnail and get a 404 error when clicked. I suspect that they were hidden garbage in my CE4 database which became visible when copied to BL. Here are the two instances:

Album Set http://rick.samcos.com/galleries/g-2016/d-Dolomites/ has extra, erroneous "Western Dolomites" album

Album Set http://rick.samcos.com/galleries/o-2008 … rn-Oregon/ has extra, erroneous "Steens Mountain" album

Is there a way for me to remove them (e.g., create & then delete a new album "on top of" the bad one with same slug) or does the database need editing by someone?

#44 Re: Backlight Support » Viewing images from galleries - Advancing through all the photos. » 2017-10-18 08:53:30

OK, I found it -- it's not in template, but settable for each album instance. But I want to change pagination for the album instance resulting from a search ... how is this done?

#45 Re: Backlight Support » Viewing images from galleries - Advancing through all the photos. » 2017-10-18 08:50:02

For the life of me, I can't find where to either turn off an album template's image pagination or change its threshold setting ... where is it?

#47 Backlight Support » adjusting horizontal navigation menu's height » 2017-10-18 02:27:12

I am trying to decrease the height of the band which holds BL's primary horiz. navigation menu. That is, decrease the padding above and below the actual menu items. The Designer does have the Navigation Horiz. Menu "Padding-top" and "Padding-bottom" controls for setting this padding's size but they are already set to 0 so I can't shrink them further. I experimented with different custom.css values for

.primary-menu {
     padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
}

without any effect, up or down (even with an !important). My CSS skills aren't good enough to go further on my own. Any suggestions?

#48 Re: Backlight Support » Publishing large photo sets aborts with server 12152 code » 2017-10-17 09:47:36

Thanks, guys.

Per other threads, I tried creating the following php.ini file without any effect:

file_uploads = On
post_max_size = 100M
max_file_uploads 100
upload_max_filesize = 50M
max_execution_time =  300
memory_limit = 128M

It does feel like a DOS defensive block to me. Maybe it's time to switch hosting vendor,  but first I'll explore mod_security solutions with GoDaddy. I'll report back here with what I learn.

Using the TTG Publisher in Lightroom to publish large photo sets (album sets or albums) to GoDaddy shared-server hosted BL or CE4 websites aborts after a short while. The displayed message seems to imply that the returned server code is 12152:

TTGPublishErrorCapture.JPG)

After this occurs, the server refuses all further interactions of any kind for 1-2 minutes; e.g., browser accesses return an “ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE“ error. When the server starts responding again, the Lightroom publish can be restarted and will resume where it left off.

My guess is that TTG Publisher is exceeding some GoDaddy resource limit and the account is briefly quarantined as a result. During such a problematic publishing session, the server's cPanel monitor shows normal CPU, Memory, etc. usage levels. That is, the cPanel monitor shows no resource that reaches a maximum, or even jumps up in value. I have spent some time with GoDaddy support and they believe that some other, software threshold is being exceeded. But they don't seem to have a clue what it might be. I increased the server's PHP execution time limit threshold, but that had no effect.

Anyone experienced this and have any suggestions? It's a PITA to only be able to republish about 40 images at a time after migrating from CE4 to BL. BTW, this problem occurs whether (re-)publishing everything or just metadata and/or thumbnails.

Just a FYI that titles, captions, and any other relevant photo metadata isn't migrated from CE4 to BL when you use the Publisher migration tool. That is, all metadata must be republished after a site is converted. I discovered this when all photo captions were empty after the migration.
