#26 Re: Backlight Support » Album templates » 2016-10-20 01:11:18

Thanks Rod.  I suspected that was the answer.  Just wishful thinking on my part!

I did the CE4 to Backlight migration on my web site and all went well.  I suppose with better planning I could have forced my preferred template to have been the one used by the migration utility (maybe by renaming my template to "Standard Album Template"?), but since I have two different album templates (I changed my format some time ago, so I have an older and newer album format), I would have needed to change about half my album templates manually in any case.

Maybe it would be possible for Ben to change the migration utility so that users wanting to migrate from CE4 to Backlight could choose the Album Set and Album templates they would like to use in the migration.

Is it possible to change all of the album templates under a given Album Set at once or does it need to be done one album at a time?

#28 Re: Backlight Support » Caption format in Theatre-Vegas slideshow » 2016-10-17 13:37:44

Rod,

Thank you!  That is the selector that I needed for the background color.  In addition to causing the bar to 'disappear' into my page background, it covered the bottom of my image with that color making it look like the caption is indeed below the image.  With some images, that might not work, but I can select images that are okay with that 'cropping'.  Have a look at my home page and you will see what I mean.

Again, thanks so much.

Is there a way to change the color of the background bar for the caption?

Rod,
Thanks for looking into this.  Maybe Matt will have an idea.

When I look at my Backlight test site:  www.collinsnet.us/backlight-test/ on my iPhone 6s, it seems to work fine until I touch the Menu icon.  Doing this gives me my Home Page copy, but no navigation controls.

I have tried both Chrome and Safari browsers with the same result.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Doug

I have a Theatre-Vegas slideshow working almost to my liking on the home page of my test Backlight website:
www.collinsnet.us/backlight-test/

I would like to:
(1) Move the caption bar to below the photo (no gap).
(2) Change the color of the caption bar to the same color as my home page background so that the bar 'disappears', and the caption words remain.

I have not been able to find any settings or controls that allow me to do this.  Is it possible to do this and, if so, how?

I have used custom css to center the caption by piecing together code from other posts (Thank you, Rod!), but I have no idea what the code might be to accomplish my caption objectives in css.

Thank you!

Rod,

Thank you for that explanation.  It is very reassuring!  Once I get all of the smaller details of my Backlight site the way I want them, I'll do the migration.

Thanks for the info.  I'll dig into that as soon as I can.

Ben,

Thanks for the reply.  The first thing I did after updating to 1.0.5 was to visit the three admin sections.  I did see the updates occur at that point.  I had not seen anything about the SQLite changes, but have now done that.  It seems to me the site is responding quickly now.  Do you agree?

Now, how about my anxiety question?  :-)

Here is a link to my Backlight test site:  www.collinsnet.us/backlight-test/
It took me about a day's work to create this.  While I have a number of things to polish up, I think that is a testimony to the ease of using Backlight to develop a web site.

Here is a link to my TTG CE4 site, that I would like to roll into Backlight:  www.collinsnet.us
There are four major Album Sets in the Gallery at this site.  Each major Album Set has numerous sub-Album Sets, some have a third level of Album Sets, and of course, there are many Albums at the lowest levels with many thousands of photos.

As you might imagine, I am very anxious about deleting my one Backlight test album, moving the Backlight folders and files into my collinsnet.us root directory, and importing my CE4 Album Sets and Albums into Backlight.  If it does not go well, I fear it would irretrievably damage my site.  There is no way I would be able to recreate all of the Album Set and Album descriptions.  Have a look at them to see what I mean!  Is all of that content and structure supposed to import in the transition to Backlight?

Now a couple of simple questions:
How do I center the photo captions under the photos in large image mode?
How do I add single photos to my Home page and About page in Backlight, like I have in my CE4 site?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

#38 Re: General » Are there issues viewing a CE4 built website in Windows 10? » 2015-08-04 03:38:00

I upgraded to Windows 10 on July 29th.  I know, I am living dangerously!

I just checked Lynne's site on three browsers in Windows 10:  Firefox, Chrome, and Edge (Microsoft's Internet Explorer replacement).  In a quick look, the site looks the same on all three browsers, and the slide show mode seems to be working correctly on all three browsers.  EXCEPT, toggling the "i" on Chrome does nothing, while it works fine to turn the title display on and off in Firefox and Edge.

I hope that helps.

#40 Re: CE4 Auto Index » Help My galleries look like this after todays update » 2015-06-30 23:43:03

I just did the Auto-Index 7.0.6 to 7.0.7 and Pages 7.0.13 to 7.0.14 updates and see a similar error.  Go to my web site: www.collinsnet.us

Click on Galleries, and you will see the long string of errors.  If you use the drop downs on the Home page to navigate directly to anything below the top level "Galleries" page, it all seems to work.

I just updated from Auto Index v7.0.5 to v7.0.6.  In Lightroom, it still shows the version as 7.0.5.  Did I screw up or was the version number not updated in the new release?

Is there another way I can check to see if I really do have v7.0.6 installed correctly?

Thanks!

#43 Re: CE4 Publisher » "Modified Photos" problem » 2015-06-15 23:56:09

Ben,

Thanks for your thoughts on these problems.

With regard to the "Modified Photos" problem, I found that I could select a collection, wait for photos to stop "auto" Modifying, then select all photos in the collection and publish them with the "Update metadata without uploading existing photos" box ticked.  It seemed like Lightroom was re-uploading the "Modified" photos, but not the others.  The re-publish went fairly quickly.  The correct order was preserved.

With regard to the mis-ordered photos, the only solution I found was to remove all of the photos from the collection (select all, right click, click on remove from collection), then select all of the correctly ordered photos in the CE3 version of the same collection and drag them into the now empty CE4 version, then publish the collection with "Update metadata without uploading existing photos" box ticked.  I don't know why the photo order was preserved in some of my albums and not others in the transition from CE3 to CE4.  I observed no pattern to this phenomenon.

I think I have my web site straightened out now.

Thanks again for looking at this.

#44 Re: CE4 Publisher » "Modified Photos" problem » 2015-06-15 12:42:17

Rod,

Thanks for the suggestion.  I have copied the log files and they are ready to email to Ben, should he want to see them.  I have pretty much cleaned up my Publisher CE4 photo album collections so I am not sure how that will be reflected in the latest logs.  Ben can be the judge of that.  It may be academic at this point unless finding out what is going on helps others (or me in the future!).

The web site in question is www.collinsnet.us

I think this problem began when I upgraded from CE3 to CE4.  I am slowly working through my albums, trying to get my web site completely cleaned up in CE4.

The problem:  In the CE4 section of the Publish Services Library Module, when I click on an album that I originally published in CE3, I often find that photos start migrating into the "Modified Photos" section, even though I have not intentionally modified the photos.  This "migration" usually stops after one or two dozen photos "migrate" in albums that can have as many as several hundred photos in them.

Sometimes I also see a change in the "Custom Order" of the photos within an album.  This mis-ordering seems to have occurred randomly (some albums effected, others not) during the automatic translation from CE3 to CE4.  Insuring that "Custom Order" is selected, rather than "Capture Time", etc., does not solve this problem.  All of my CE3 albums were created with "Custom Order" for the photos within the albums.

I do not know if there might be a connection between these two issues, but would like to know if others have reported this and/or if there is a solution.

Thanks,
Doug

#46 Re: CE4 Publisher » Two Lightroom 6 issues » 2015-05-12 08:20:19

Once again, you have saved my bacon.  By properly "upgrading", all worked well and I have everything as it should be.

Thanks!

#47 Re: CE4 Publisher » Two Lightroom 6 issues » 2015-05-12 03:17:54

Rod,

Thanks for the prompt response.  Hmmm..., I don't know what I did (or failed to do) such that my album sets and albums didn't transfer.  Maybe someone else on this forum has had this problem and solved it.  I have also posted the question on the Adobe Community site.  I will keep digging.

And, yes, Adobe Revel is a Publish service that comes with Lightroom.  I would think that you have it listed in your Publish services section, although probably not set up.

I installed Lightroom 6.  I imported my Lightroom 5 catalog.  I have about 100,000 photos in this catalog and the import took about three days continuous crunching on my PC.

First question:  Is that normal for the transition from LR5 to LR6 (I know this is not a TTG question, but thought someone here might have some insight into this)?

Second question/issue:  While all of my photos and collections seem to have transferred correctly, none of my Publish Service galleries transferred.  All of my plugins are there and ready to "set up", but there are no galleries.  This is the case for my Adobe Revel galleries and for my TTG CE3 and CE4 galleries.

I hope this is something simple I have overlooked and is easily corrected.  Can anyone tell me what I can do to get all of these galleries to correctly show up in LR6?

Thanks,
Doug

#49 Re: CE4 Pages » CE4 Pages Contact Form error » 2014-12-19 15:20:32

Ben,

Thank you for finding that error.

I thought I had used Notepad++ with no BOM encoding (although that is all trial and error for me :-) ).  I probably introduced the error in the phplugins.php file before I switched to Notepad++.  Nonetheless, I was able to use Notepad++ to "Convert to UTF-8 without BOM", the file was three bytes smaller, and it now seems to work correctly!!!

Much thanks to you and Rod.
