#26 Re: CE4 Pages » Unwanted Text at bottom of Homepage » 2014-10-02 03:54:05

after exporting the Pages I directly edited the files with notepad to paste in the code which was shown in your documentation. It took me a couple of attempts to get it to work as I didn't quite understand the instructions as where the code was to be inserted....

The problem seems to be this copy of part of the code has been pasted accidently into the wrong place within the homepage files, but I am unable to find out exactly which file and whereabouts this text is....

TIA

My home page www.kishwphotos.co.uk has some spurious unwanted text right at the bottom.
It appears to be part of the code I added to some of the files for disabling the context menu, but I cannot find where or how this text is being displayed on the home page, any ideas on which file I need to edit/find this text in ?

#28 CE4 Gallery » Help creating password protected galleries » 2014-10-02 00:33:47

Hi, I have managed to get something online now that works almost as I would like, however I want to add some password protected galleries but getting somewhat confused reading through the documentation and forum posts, could you please clarify the process required:

The passwords I believe are set in the CE4_Gallery Plugin ?
So far I understand this plugin defines a template that needs to be uploaded to server before publisher can use it ?
Would this mean that the Passwords are stored within the Template and as such every new gallery posted with same template would use same Passwords ?

do I need to create a separate Gallery template for each private gallery prior to publishing the gallery or is it possible to change the guest password credentials when setting up the publisher collection ?

My public galleries are already set and working and stored on my server under Galleries folder to keep things organised on my server I want private galleries to be stored in a different folder /private_galleries to do this do I need to create a separate instance of publisher in LR to publish private password protected galleries ?

To have a separate Menu item and Gallery page to select private galleries do I need to add it through CE4_pages and then do upload only the home page and new gallery page or all pages ?

Do I need to do any additional work with Autoindex before creating these private galleries ?

It would be helpful to have a simple step by step sequence outlining how to add private galleries to an existing site.....

TIA

#29 Re: CE4 Gallery » Beginner Questions » 2014-09-25 05:03:52

Thanks for the help, it does sound like for some more advanced features I may need to invest in stage and learn PHP and probably some Java.....

Just a couple more questions

If using publisher I need to have template (created with Gallery) saved/uploaded to my server, it does not use the current template that may be active in LR when entering the publisher collection is this correct ? and these templates can only be uploaded to the server with programs outside of LR ?

If I want to have slight differences between different galleries I will need to upload more than one template to server ?

I cannot find out how to stop the path to current gallery title displaying on the galleries pages ie. Galleries>Birds

I notice that I can set Watermarks within the publish collection settings, publisher Instance settings or within the gallery plugin, which is the best place to insert watermarks ?

I'm still confused about autoindex, once its been used during initial setup and template building there is no need to us it again unless I create new website from scratch - is this correct or am I missing something abouts its function and use ??

Using CE4 Gallery, pages and Publisher - gradually getting there but does seem more complex than I expected....
a few questions, hopefully someone will be kind enough to answer or at least point me in the right direction:

1. My galleries page shows thumbnail for each gallery but clicking on any opens a new page of thumbnails showing pictures in the gallery, is it possible to get it to go straight to the gallery slideshow for the selected gallery ?

2. Can I changes the arrow icons to words previous and next  for current gallery slideshow ?

3. When displaying slideshow/large images can I have scrolling thumbnails at bottom or side of screen similar to what is seen in Flickr ? or do I need some other application to do this ?

4. Can I put Flash enabled galleries on the gallery pages or would I need Stage to do this ?

5. I assume any edits I do to the PHP files outside of LR (ie script to disable right click context menu) will need to be repeated if I do  any further/additional edits/export of pages from LR

6. How do I get gallery thumbnails to display without the titles/descriptions ?

7. Is it possible to get the title description to show when cursor is hovered over the thumbnail ?

8. When saving templates I have to create a new one each time is there a way to overwrite the existing one with the changes ? Does the template need to be created before exporting - I expect changes will only be lost if LR is closed before creating/saving new template ?

I look forward to your help and response, TIA

#31 Re: CE4 Publisher » Publisher managed home page » 2014-09-24 01:11:48

So could this be a something for future upgrade to enable publisher to update the home page with updated web collections ??

I spent best par of 3 days trying to get this to work before finding out I have been trying to do something impossible, and I thought it was something I was doing wrong.... never mind it becomes clearer and makes sense now.

Can you please verify if Stage really is needed for this or could i simply publish from publisher to a "pages-gallery" gallery?
Reading the blog is seems like its needed (step 2), but reading the wiki i see no reference for using Stage...

Wiki link:

Which one is correct?

So does this mean I have been wasting my time trying to get this to work on my site - After spending hours getting to grips with the  Web Publishing Package I finally managed to get something that resembles a website - I have what I understand now is a galleria slide show on my home page - I have it enabled for updates via Publisher - but every time I try to use publisher to update it the slide show  gets replaced with a gallery of thumbnails instead - does this mean I need to dip into my pocket again and purchase Stage just so I can do updates to the slideshow on my home page ?

It has also been difficult to undo these changes once uploaded to the server, is there an easy way to undo these changes ?
