Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out.
I did using Godaddy's dashboard and then using Filezilla. I first changed the permissions to 755, followed by 777 and both get that same message.
Unable to write to backlight/modules. Make sure that this directory can be writen to by the server.
I've seen some references to putting the Backlight files in a directly called /public_html but when I've tried this, the website isn't found.
Does anyone have any insight on this? I'm basically stuck.
I lost my entire site so I upgraded and am doing a new install on Godaddy. I got past the first hurdle (PHP version) and am now getting the message "Unable to write to backlight/modules". I followed the instructions from the link upgrading to write permissions, first for just the Data folder but when nothing changed all of the folders using Godaddy's built in File manager.
I continue to get the same message.
Any ideas?
Thanks. I won't get to it until this weekend but I'll definitely take you up on your offers.
I'm guardedly hopefully that this might take care of the issues I have with GoDaddy mid-upload when I publish.
No. Looks like I need to do a clean install. Any guidance so that I don't loose any settings?
I received an email from GoDaddy indicating that my Backlight configuration possibly contains malware. The substantive portion of the email states:
We recently completed a routine security checkup of our servers and platforms. Our scans flagged your norcrosspics.com hosting accounts as containing possible malware.
Please sign in to your hosting account and review the following content and remove or fix the files listed below:
html/backlight/custom/phplugins/_noversion.php
html/backlight/framework/delegates/Delegate_new.php

html/resources/autoindex/autoindex.php
html/resources/highslide/highslide.mobile_infoold.php
html/resources/images/favicon_ver1.php
I called them and they specifically listed html/iqisibms.php as malware and stated that the reason the other files are listed is because they have been injected with malware.. Before I go online and start messing with the configuration I want to confirm that html/iqisibms.php is not a file that should be part of the Backlight configuration.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Bob
If I put info in the Captions box the information shows on the page. When I delete it and put it in the Metadata 01 or Metadata02 box nothing shows.
I did republish. I'm trying not to get into CSS. I don't have time to deal with all that.
I'm missing something here. When I put the information in the Image Settings>>Image Metadata>>Photos Caption I get this.

If I put information in Thumbnails Metadata01 or 02 no text shows on the page when I delete the information I have put in the Captions box. I have gone to Thumbnail Presentation>>Meta Display and turned on Display Metadata 01 and 02 but nothing shows.
I see a way to change to the font for the Metadata fields but not the Caption and Title fields.
Thanks.
Got the info to show on the individual image pages. Is there a way to do the same thing on the initial Gallery page? Also, can the font size be changed?
I like it as well. I shoot a lot of sports using Photo Mechanic and code replacement to add the player's names to keywords. With this I should be able to get player's name as part of the title.
Thanks.
Thanks Charlie. I'll give it a try. I also saw that you have keywords there. Do you add them to these fields or can keywords be picked up as well?
Is it possible to label individual pictures in a gallery. I just got back from a trip to several national parks in Utah and am creating galleries from each. If possible, I would like to label the individual pictures in the galleries with the names of the areas within the park.
Thanks for the link to Matt's write-up on file naming. I see a mistake I have been making and need to change. I begin my image naming with the date of the image. I'm going to change that with the addition of my last name at the beginning of the name.
Thanks Rod. I'll check that out.
I think I have read here that it is the intent to add native support for slideshows to Backlight similar to what we had previously. Is there any estimate on when this will be completed? I don't want to spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to do it manually if slideshows are going to be added in the near future.
Thanks.
Bob
I agree. You shouldn't do this kind of stuff with a cocktail in hand. Thanks for the help.
I don't know what happened. I'm pretty sure it was working with the prior version but there were definitely no images there after the upgrade. Maybe it wasn't working before and I hadn't noticed. Pretty sure I didn't mess with the Galleries folder. Any way, all is good now and that's what counts.
For some reason the thumbnails that were in those sets that aren't showing anything now have no pictures. Not sure how that happened.
Well that's a whole other issue I was not aware of.
I have not. I'll add it to the list.
I did. I'll try the other tonight.
