#26 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Setting Up LR Publisher » 2018-12-24 06:05:15

didn't work.  Authentication is successful but I still get the error message about the server being unable to list templates when I try to create an album.

#27 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Setting Up LR Publisher » 2018-12-24 05:51:01

So how can I publish an album or two to design the album templates/pages before migrating the new website?

#28 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Setting Up LR Publisher » 2018-12-24 05:46:20

No,I changed the API URL in the new publisher instance to the format you described in your earlier reply.  It now reads:  "http://69.195.124.218/~finkspho/testsit … /publisher".  In the CE3 instance it reads: "http://69.195.124.218/~finkspho/publisher/api/".

I spoke too soon.  Although the authenication worked, when I selected create new album in LR I received an error message indicating that the server didn't list any available album templates.  I've gone back to Backlight 2 Designer and I see two albums (default and full-screen) are available.....

Actually, I just answered my own question using the API authentication.  I had to delete /"api" at the end and it then worked without adding "finksphotos.com".  Thanks again

#31 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Setting Up LR Publisher » 2018-12-24 05:17:29

Thanks Rod.  The current CE3 publisher API URL -- which still works -- is "http://69.195.124.218/~finkspho/publisher/api/".  May I assume I need to change it in the new publisher instance to "http://69.195.124.218/~finkspho/testsit … isher/api/" or do you think I need to insert "finksphotos.com" after "~finkspho" (my user name)?

#32 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Setting Up LR Publisher » 2018-12-24 04:33:19

BTW, I have tried both "testsite/galleries/" (which looks like it should work) and "testsite/backlight/galleries" but when I select create album in LR publisher I am not offered any templates from Backlight.

I currently maintain a website using TTG CE3.  I am upgrading to Backlight 2.  I have set up my basic designs for my home, about and contact pages using a sub-folder in my website ("testsite") as the temporary location for Backlight until my designs and setups are all finalized.   I am now ready to begin publishing albums which I have previously done using LR publisher, which specifies "galleries" as the top-level directory(and presumably targets my main website) .

In order to maintain my current publishing service to my (still active) website, I have opted to setup a new publishing service using TTG publisher. I want to maintain my TTG CE3 publishing service until I am sure I am ready to go live with the newly designed website.  Am I correct in that I need to designate a new top-level directory in the TTG Backlight Publishing service?  If so, do I merely need to specify "testsite/galleries", or something else, such as "testsite/backlight/galleries"?  Thanks

#34 Re: Backlight 2 Support » space between title and tagling » 2018-12-24 02:47:28

Thanks. That resulted in the change I wanted.

I know nothing about the <br> in the masthead.  All of the changes have been effected using Backlight 2 Designer.

Let me know if I can forward anything to help you figure out the <br> issue.

Thanks again and happy holidays

#36 Re: Backlight 2 Support » space between title and tagling » 2018-12-24 01:57:29

OK.  So I created a new css file in the appropriate folder with the following text:

.masthead-primary .site__tagline {
    font-size: 1rem;
    margin-top: 8px;
    text-transform: none;
}

I may have misunderstood your directions, but the text above didn't change the space between title and tagline; it merely made the tagline larger and bolder?

Now you have exposed my ignorance...for which I apologize.  Where do I access custom css in Backlight (he asked humbly)?

Thanks.  It's working for now, so I am happy.  One other question:  In the Masthead, is there a way to control the space between the Title (which I have set to 36 font) and the tagline (which is set to 14 font)?  I'd like to maintain the text sizes but bring the tagline closer to the title.  Thanks

Never mind..problem solved.  I realized I was already in the public_html folder so I just deleted everything in front of "/backlight" and it worked!!!

Thanks

Rod:

First two problems solved.  I have almost figured out how to insert an image, but can't quite get it to work.  I created an "Images" folder in the Backlight/Custom folder which is setup on a folder called "Testsite" on my website.  I FTP'd the two images I wanted to insert on the contact and about pages and then right clicked on the image for the contact page to copy the URL to the clipboard.  I then inserted the clipboard contents between the quotation marks in the main copy (md) for the contact page.  Here is the text as it currently reads:

<img src="ftp://finkspho@finksphotos.com/public_html/testsite/backlight/custom/Images/Humphead-wrasse-for-contact.jpg" width="300" class="alignright" alt="Drop Me a Line">I look forward to hearing from you!

Please use the form below to contact me with your questions or comments.

In the site where I want the image on my contact page, I am seeing the alternate text "Drop Me a Line" instead of the actual image.  Can you help?

Thanks

I tried using the img tag but couldn't get it to work (at least in the preview).  I used the default contact form; that's probably the issue.

Thanks

Rod:

Still having problems with contact page content.  Here's what's in the box for the content for that page:

Despite the lack of the latin text anywhere in the content box on the designer page, this is what I see in my test site:

Finally getting to setting up my new Backlight 2 website.  I am finally learning to navigate in the design pages, but had a few issues:
1) Can I create Italic fonts?  If so, how do I do that?
2) On my contact page, I have inserted my desired content into the primary content box.  Yet the latin Loqum, etc. text continues to appear.  I can't remove it.  Can you help with this?
3) I want to insert a JPEG image alongside the text on my content page.  Can this be done?

Thanks

Greetings all:  On my website's contact page, I currently utilize a contact form from form-to-email.  I have just received notification that they will no longer offer use of their forms for free; with the current special, one will need to pay $27/year for the use of a single form; the fee is higher if more than one form is to be used.  I was wondering if others have been able to use other less expensive (or even free) forms for contact pages, etc.?  If so, I was hoping there might be support on how to change the HTML scripts to support use of such forms.

Thanks

Rod:  Your suggestion was right on target.  That was exactly the problem.  All good now!!

As always, your help is much appreciated.

One of the thumbnails in one of my galleries was corrupted, requiring me to transfer a new copy of that specific gallery to the host site.  The gallery is now corrected and works properly.  However, on the gallery home page, the various galleries are no longer in alphabetic order...the gallery folder I copied now appears at the top despite being the last based on alphabetic order (and in contrast to the other gallery links).  I have re-copied the index.php and gallery.php files to the root directory, but that hasn't helped.  Might anyone have any other suggestions?  The link below goes to the gallery home page which should demonstrate the issue.  Many thanks.

Aaron
