My Navigation setting doesn't have Horizontal Navigation. My Navigation, Header has text align, but this does not control padding and does not allow me to align the navigation so it is flush left with the masthead.
I have a custom CSS that worked in BL1 to add border and padding. I have this enabled under Custom Stylesheets in BL2. But it is not working.
did more tests. First item added to cart, I am able to click on the change size or type button, and it works. But after adding second item, this stops working and I am taken to the Backlight 2 log in page
Thanks, I see the thumbnail of the photo. I still am taken to the Backlight 2 administrator web page when I click on change size or type of print. The first time it worked, but since then it has not worked, I am taken to the Backlight 2 adminstrator log in page.
I just upgraded from BL1 Cart to BL2 Cart. I notice some issues:
1. There used to be a thumbnail of the photo being ordered visible in the add an item dialog box. This is no longer visible. Instead there is some type of image that looks like a horizontal bar with a picture icon?
2. When viewing the cart, there used to be a thumbnail of the ordered photo. This is no longer visible. Instead there is a tiny icon like image?
3. When viewing the cart and clicking on the change size or type of print button, the viewer used to be taken back to the add an item dialog box, where they could change the size or type of print. Now they are taken to the Backlight 2 login administrator web page.
How do I correct these isssues?
I upgraded from BL1 to BL2. The upgrade caused the navigation layout to change. The navigation menu was left aligned with the masthead. After upgrading to BL2, the navigation menu is left aligned with the page. How can I go back to my BL1 layout, where the navigation menu aligns with the masthead? I can not find a control for aligning the navigation menu. There is a padding control for the masthead, but no such control for the navigation menu.
OK, it now works and I am able to log into BL2. The index.php file was uploaded from Backlight-2-Installer-102, so I do not understand why there was a problem.
any help would be greatly appreciated. I need to get my website back up and running.
I can not access BL2 admin. When I enter in sweetlightgallery.com/backlight
I get the text posted above. No option to enter in a username and password.
Yes, I ran the installer and got the following message
Backlight 2 was installed successfully”. From here, press “Continue to Backlight”.
I then clicked on continue and tried to log in using
username admin, password ttg8888
Ben, I just emailed you the FTP access
another odd thing I notice. When I enter the web address sweetlightgallery.com/backlight, besides getting the text posted above on the website page, I notice that the web address has turned to http://sweetlightgallery.com/backlight/installer/
also meant to say
I do not get the Backlight admin controls, like I used to with Backlight v1
just the page with text posted above
correct .htaccess files are copied to their correct locations.
I just downloaded BL2 this evening, so it is the newest version.
after following the upgrade instructions for backlight 2, I got the following message
Backlight 2 was installed successfully”. From here, press “Continue to Backlight”.
I then clicked on continue and tried to log in using
username admin, password ttg8888
I got an error message from the browser, not from Backlight. I tried entering in the address
http://sweetlightgallery.com/backlight
I do get the Backlight admin controls, like I used to with Backlight v1. I get a page with the following text:
"Your Company
Welcome
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Nullam eu blandit nisl. Suspendisse potenti. Pellentesque varius sagittis nibh, quis vulputate sapien molestie eget. Nulla suscipit lobortis placerat. Duis ultricies faucibus metus pellentesque vestibulum. Sed lobortis, lorem vitae tempus vestibulum, massa augue tempus quam, eu convallis orci nisl nec elit. Donec rutrum viverra magna id ornare. Sed sed leo elementum, malesuada nulla quis, pretium libero.

I really need help! My website no longer works.
thanks Ben for the reply. I am very happy to hear that you are working to break the tie to Lightroom. I also like the idea of being independent of any third-party clients. Completely self sufficient is the way to go. I love Backlight being cloud based. When I travel, I can still easily modify my website.
With the new LR Classic subscription model only, the ability to maintain our Backlight website galleries in the future will become dependent upon Adobe's subscription model. If we do not opt for Adobe's subscription model, our only alternative is to use our last stand alone LR version in the future to publish our Backlight galleries. This could pose future issues, such as the aging stand alone LR not supporting our most current camera RAW files. It would be very nice if there was an alternative method of publishing our galleries independent of Adobe.
The alternative method could be basic and involve designating selected folders (equivalent publish albums) to be published as Backlight galleries. Any changes to the content of these folders would be identified and the corresponding Backlight gallery could be updated. The software that accomplishes this could be a stand alone app or like Backlight cloud based. The content of these folders would be up to the user to manage.
Not only would this cut the tie to Adobe, but would open up Backlight website creation to many photographers who do not use Adobe Lightroom and instead use one of the available alternatives. There are many photographers in this camp.
thanks Rod, upgrading seemed to work smoothly. Looking forward to trying out the new features.
I am upgrading from the BL 1.0.3 and have two questions. The instructions say to "Remove and re-upload the following files and directories:"
1. I assume these instructions mean also removing all of a specified folder content, including all subfolders and files. Just want to make sure.
2. One the files mentioned to remove and re-upload is
env.php.skel
I do not have this file in my current BL 1.0.3 directory on the hosting server I use. I also notice that it was not in the Backlight-Pages-103.zip download. My Backlight site has run fine as far as I know. So even though I do not have this file to remove, should I upload the env.php.skel file to the Backlight directory?
Hi Matt,
I am very happy to hear this and not surprised. The major photography forums that I follow suggest that many photographers do not use Lightroom and yet all of them have some method for sharing/promoting their photos on the www. Backlight is a brilliant solution.
I am looking forward to Backlight 1.2. Keep up the great work. It is very much appreciated by all TTG/Backlight users.
I have been using Backlight since last September. It has been fantastic. Is there a Publisher alternative for updating gallery photos, creating new galleries and uploading photos? I ask for two reasons:
1. I have started using Capture One Pro, and would like to use just one raw converter in my workflow. Right now I have to use LR for managing my web galleries contained in my Backlight created website. It would be very nice to have an alternative method for managing, creating web galleries.
2. If there was an alternative method, then it would greatly expand Backlight's market since there are many photographers who do not use LR. If there is not an alternative method, then I strongly encourage TTG to develop a simple stand alone app that can publish photos to Backlight galleries. It doesn't have to be a RAW converter, but work with a folder of properly sized JPEGS or TIFFS. Another possibility is to add a publish/gallery creation function to Backlight.
I know how hard the Backlight developers work. You all do an amazing job. So from a time/resource standpoint this may not be a practical idea. But if it was possible, it would certainly open up a much larger Backlight market to the many photographers who do not use LR, plus support Backlight users who are migrating away from LR.
yep, that was it, needed a lowercase w.
Thanks
I just added a single image to my Summer Gallery. When I click on the cart icon, to add it to the cart, I get the following message:
"No products are available to purchase - Please try again later, or contact the photographer if this problem persists."
The image is the last one in the gallery: New Summer Rain DC-007-W
None of my other images have this issue. When I click on the cart icon for the other images, then the normal "add an item to the cart" dialog box comes up. Here is the link to the gallery:
http://sweetlightgallery.com/galleries/2-summer/
Any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks for your help
Thanks for considering the cart feature. Cart content retention would be a highly desirable feature. I think a lot of people take time to make purchase decisions. They will add 2 or 3 images to the shopping car, but hold off on making a final decision. When they return after closing the browser window, they expect the images they added to the cart to still be there. This saves them the inconvenience of having to go and relocate the images again in the various galleries. I have observed the same thing happening in the galleries that sell my work. Customers will select several prints they like, but will want to think it over and come back the next day with a final purchase decision. I do the same thing when I shop online, add several items to a shopping cart, come back the next day and delete cart items or add additional ones. Doesn't everyone shop this way.
Anything that will make shopping more convenient may increase sales.
