Thanks, SunFoxNC for sharing your solution, I think I got the idea and have played with it.
Not sure though, that this is a solution for me. I am not an experienced programmer and it looks to me as if I would need to check for a variety of screen resolutions (number of pixels) in order to position the Caption properly at the bottom for all screen situations. I might just live with the Caption at the top, even if I think it should be at the bottom....
But again, thanks for sharing your thoughts, I have learned another bit of CSS :-).
Cheers Alfred
Edit: I must openly admit, I am not really sure what I am doing here (trial and error is the means I am using), but this works for me:
#vegas_caption {
background-color: rgba(255,255,255,.4);
color: #000000;
display: none;
font-size: 1.0em;
line-height: 1.5em;
margin: 0px;
padding: 6px 0px;
position: fixed;
bottom: 20px;
width: 2561px;
max-width: 100%;
height: 35px;
text-align: center;
font-weight: bold;
}

My simple thinking was, that as opposed to work from the top, which I believe is problematic due to changing pixel numbers for varying displays, maybe workling from the bottom instead could do the trick ...
Thanks Rod, that removes my uncertainty: Your example looks virtually like mine. So I need to tweak the Caption display and live with the fact that it is located at the the top and not at the bottom (where it was before using the Okapi implementation).
I am sure (as much as one can be who uses Software) that I had configured the page template correctly, but will check again tonight.
Alfred
Rod, I am in fact using release 1.2.3, which I understand is the latest release. I have just deleted and uploaded Theater again - problem remains. And yes, template cache cleared and Browser history deleted as well. I have (for test purposeses) turned the slide controls on and they appear, bearly visible, underneath the Caption box.
Any other suggestions what I could try (other than switching Captions off)? Would you (or anyone else) have an example somwhere using the latest Theater release that shows in regard to Captions how it is supoposed to look like?
Thanks, Alfred
Thanks, Rainer had seen that before, but that does not move the position of the caption to the bottom of the photo as it used to be in Okapi (see my link to the example screenshot).
Alfred
Have converted the Full Screen Slideshow from Okapi to Pangolin and am almost there. What I can't get sorted is the position of the Caption display for the individual slides.
In Okapi the position used to be at the bottom of the slides (where I want it to be) but with the Pangolin implementation it is somewhere in the uper right corner. Example is here: http://fotowarkstee.de/ (don't freak out about the colour, just for me to identify the elements).
When checking with the browsers inspector, I find the element and can move it to the left and right, so have understood that, but have no idea how to apply "that little bit of CSS" as Rod would say to move it to the bottom. Any help appreciated.
THis is how it used to be in the Okapi version: http://fotowarkstee.de/images/slideshow-okapi-small.png

Thanks, Rod - quick and helpful as allways. Cheers Mate!

I am slowly going through the process of moving from okapi to pangolin.
Today I have run into the following problem: In the past I have been using the Iconic style for album sets and the thumbnails stayed inside the border – even if I had rounded corners. When I try to replicate this with pangolin, I can’t get this done. I have tried to use “Minimum Cell Padding“ to achieve this, but that parameter does not seem to work for Iconic layouts. It works for the “Classic” one though. I don’t like rounded corners where the thumbnails overlap and go outside the border. Is there anything in the styling options I am overlooking?
A link of what worked before is here: http://fotowarkstee.de/galleries/1_birds/
and the one to the new variant is here: http://fotowarkstee.de/galleries/1_bird … igiformes/
(look at the upper corners).
Before (in Okapi) we had an option called “Thumbnail Coverage: Contain”, which probably achieved what I want.
Any advice appreciated.

Hi Rod, when I used your CSS variant, then my logo pops up in the footer as well. I have turned the Backlight logo on there and I have the sneaking suspicion that there are more "logo" definitions around which are interfering?
I have not tried turning the Backlight logo off, I have gone back to Matt's variant instead, but only when keeping the class "logo" I get it aligned left.
Thanks Matthew,
that makes it clear how to implement a text and a corresponding link to the home page.
What I am looking for is having a logo there and then the link to the homepage - as if this would be in the Masthead.
I had misunderstood your original statement " If you want to use a graphic, then ... And you could probably either insert the image into the hyperlink". I reckon, I need to replace "<h1>Site Title</h1>" with a command to insert the logo graphics somehow? I lack experience and know-how here ...
Thanks, Alfred
Hi there, I need some help please with getting my logo into the top pallet. I have the fotowarkstee.php plugins file working and have tried to follow Matt’s proposal how to add the logo to the top pallet.
What I have added to the fotowarkstee.php file is this:
function ttg_pallet_top_title( $style, $path ) {
echo '
<li class="logo"><a href="http://www.fotowarkstee.de/backlight/images/backlight-owl-logo-2017-07-08-1.png"><h1>fotowarkstee alfred schulte</h1></a></li>
';
return false;
} // END /**/
The effect is, that the inserted text shows up at the right place (fotowarkstee alfred schulte) and when I click on the text, the logo is shown in a new window. Now, how do I get the logo shown there?
I just do this not often enough – I got stuck. Any advice will be much appreciated.
The album I am fiddling with at the moment is here: http://fotowarkstee.de/galleries/1_bird … rufous-owl

Thanks guys for having this fixed with the latest update !
Thanks Rod for both replies - got it. Now I need to practice in order to keep it ...
Deirdre, that answers my question where the "Title" is showing up - hadn't understood this before. I reckon now it is not meant to show on the large image. It works for my album as for your test album. Thanks for spending the time to test and letting me know.
Alfred
Deirdre, have you managed to have both entries for "Photos Caption" as well as "Photos Title" showing up on the large image?
I seem to have the same (or just similiar?) problem. The Metadata fields for the thumbnails work as expected, whatever I place in the respective fields will be shown. Because changes flow through, I am sure to operate on the correct template.
What I can't get to work though is showing both entries for the large images. Regardles of what I do, I only see the first entry in "Photos Caption" in the Image Metadata to become visible. Whatever I enter into the second "Photos Title" field does not show up anywhere.
First question: Where is this info supposed to appear?
Second one: Are there any suggestions where to look to get this info shown for the large images as well?

As a side comment:
Whenever I make changes to the entry fields for the Thumbnail Metadata, I need to re-publish the images from Lightroom to have the change coming through. I was of the (obviously wrong) impression, that the Metadata would be uploaded, when the image was first published and then by changing the template I could either make it appear or not. Could someone comment on this as well, please? Do I need to republish the photos to have the changes in the Metadata fields of the Thumbnails appearing or am I overlooking something here?
Thanks, Alfred
Qualified and pointed response within the day - that makes you guys so outstanding in terms of support :-) ! This little problem is not a show-stopper, but your efforts are nevertheless much appreciated. Alfred
Thanks Rod. Now that I know what to look for, I'll go back to the caption thing, just trying to learn, but thanks for the solution.
As far as the colour is concerned, I don't feel so bad anymore that I couldn't find it. Maybe someone else has got more ideas.
Hi there, I have switched to a full screen Vegas slideshow for my site and it's almost working, but there is one thing (or maybe two) I can't figure out:
1. I have set the Image Scaling in the Album Setup to "fit". When I now change the size of the browsers viewport, the size of the image changes either fitting the height or the width, depending on the format of the viewport. All fine.
Now my question: When setting to a format that is different from the format of the image, I have either uncovered space above/below or left/right. The colour of that space is black - and I would like to change that colour. Neither can I find a setting in Backlight nor have my attempts to use the inspector to potentially apply that through Custom CSS led to any solution. I am kind of lost, so any advice would be much appreciated.
2. I have activated the tick-box to show the Caption for the shown images, which is there and shown at the bottom left hand side - I'd like to have that centered. Any help or hint how to achieve this would also be very welcome.

Had the same problem and the fix worked for me.
Alfred
Thanks Ben for your help - problem solved. All about pointing to the right location of the wp-content directory when it is in another location than expected.
Ben, have sent you an email with more details and login credentials.
Backlight and Wordpress installation are in parallel directories (details in the email). That’s how it has developed historically, I wanted to keep website and blog separated as much as possible.
Alfred
I am in the process of installing the wordpress theme and got stuck, when trying to save the template Trying that produced this error message:
I have double checked the entered address to my blog - which is identical to the one where I can reach it. And the wp-content/themes directory does exist, I think otherwise the blog would not work at all.
Stuck here. Any advice?
Alfred
Matt, thanks for bringing Juxtapose to Theatre - very much appreciated. Did a quick test with one of my old CE4 20/20 albums and that works just fine for me. Need to tidy them up a bit and they will all be ready for publishing. Was worth the wait Cheers Alfred
Thanks Matt, much appreciated. Owe you a beer or a Shiraz. Let me know when you come through Sydney one day. Cheers Alfred
Thanks Matt. Will wait then a bit longer. I would much appreciate if you let me know once you know. Alfred
