The image crop setting did it. It was on. I turned it off.

I'm designing a new album using Galleria and have a few questions. I'm in BL2 Album Settings.
1. How can I see what effect changes I made are having? I've had some success by making a change, then clicking the save button in the upper right corner, then going to my site and getting out of the gallery, then going back into the Gallery. That success is only while in Album Copy. Is there a better way to see the changes?

2. My vertical images are cut off on the top when I check them on my site. Horizontal are OK. I assume I have to resize them but don't know where. Ideas?

OK I bought Galleria and it's downloaded and installed. BTW-That's a slick process---painless. Now what. How do I work with it? I haven't found any directions/documentation to guide me.

I have BL2 and am using Publisher to publish albums. I've been able to have one album show up on my home page. Here are my questions.
1. Is there a way to have the albums rotate randomly. I've been in "BL2-Admin" (Is that what it's called?) and gone to the home page, design and assigned the album. It works well. I was hoping there was an option to allow a random presentation. No such thing.

2. I'm also considering having my home page open to a slide show. I believe that would require a template. Not sure where to find them, and how to install and use.

3. I'm also considering a Gallery Plugin. e.g. Justified. I downloaded a free gallery e.g. BWRAQ just to try it out but not sure how to install and use it.

#30 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Installing New Update from Jan 13, 2019 » 2019-01-14 08:27:56

I did see the message "Update was successful". Then I got a message "Reinstall all" or something like that. I didn't remember seeing it previously so I thought I should click on it. I did. I assume it was not a problem and also not necessary.

I want to confirm that I did it correctly. I went to BL2 Admin>Modules and found the updates. I clicked on "Update all" for BL2 and Okapi web modules. I did the same thing with the links "Reinstall all". I now get a link to allow me to reinstall all the modules.
1. Am I done?
2. Do I have to re install Publisher Plug in too?

#32 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Easy way to publish from different catalogs » 2019-01-13 07:55:11

Thanks.. I was aware of those methods but was hoping there was a more efficient way. Never the less, I can now go to town on my website.

I want to publish a new album using TTG Publisher in LR. I want to add images from multiple catalogs. I make a new catalog for each calendar year. I'm thinking I would have to export images from one catalog to the desktop, then import them into the newest LR catalog then publish them from there. Is there a less complex way to accomplish this?

#34 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Unusual Error message » 2019-01-13 03:52:19

Got it. I'll just delete in BL2 after I'm unsuccessful with deleting from LR. I'll leave FTP alone. Next question...

I want to publish a new album (using TTG Publisher in LR) and add images from multiple catalogs (for me that's years). I'm thinking I would have to export images from one catalog to the desktop, import them into the newest LR catalog then publish them from there. Is there a less complex way to accomplish this?

BTW-I recognize these latest questions have nothing to do with the original problem i.e. "an unusual error message". Should I start a new subject heading?

#35 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Unusual Error message » 2019-01-12 03:57:35

Voyager is what I'm looking forward. Thanks.

I'm reworking my website and want to delete some albums. Many of those originate in different catalogs. BTW-I make a new catalog every year and that practice would require me  to go back to each catalog to delete each album. I know I can delete albums in BL2 under the Designer>Publisher tabs. But BL2 suggests deleting albums through LR instead.
1. Is there a big problem deleting albums from BL2?
2. Is there any problem with deleting albums using my FTP software? I'm using Filezilla and it seems rather straight forward. Your thoughts!

#36 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Unusual Error message » 2019-01-08 10:09:21

That was it. I checked it but on the wrong e mail account. dah! ...Another question.

What is the name of the 3rd party software program that allows for settings from one catalog to be transferred to a new catalog. Will it work with Backlight 2?

#37 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Unusual Error message » 2019-01-08 05:47:57

Yes. That's exactly what i did. I was able to download publisher from the same page and installed that too. Everything else is working with one exception. My contact page is not working. i"ve sent some test emails. it says they are sent. But they don't show up in my email.  I've done what I can to check the settings but couldn't see anything that might lend itself to not working. Ideas?

I was following the You Tube video explaining the BL2 upgrading process. I got to the part where I updated my albums which was successful. I checked my website and got the following error message, "Something went wrong
Unable to find module with id standard-page. Make sure this module is installed under backlight/modules/. in EngineFactory.php on line 95".

Any ideas?

I FIGURED IT OUT. I HAD TO INSTALL SOME EXTRA FOLDERS.

#39 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Getting Backlight 2 for a Backlight 1 user » 2018-12-03 00:46:52

I downloaded the version from July 31st and it's just Backlight. I now realize that's not BL-2. So I have the wrong one as I suspected.

I'm not sure how any discount is handled for BL-2 as an owner of BL-1. Is there just a $15 discount? It isn't clear. If there is no additional discount for BL-2 then I think I should just use the links from the November 27th e mail to make my purchase. Correct?

I'm interested in just Backlight 2 which I think includes publisher. I use Fotomoto to sell my photos. Don't think I need of the add on's. Correct?

#40 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Getting Backlight 2 for a Backlight 1 user » 2018-12-02 10:25:04

Not sure how to get Backlight 2. I went to the e mails, got to the BL2 page but couldn't find a place to download it. I did download the version from the July 31st e mail but that doesn't look like 2.0.4. what am I missing?

#41 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Getting Backlight 2 for a Backlight 1 user » 2018-12-02 01:42:09

That did it.  Two days of trying to figure it out and all it was was an encryption problem. Thanks. Hopefully I can take it from here.

#42 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Getting Backlight 2 for a Backlight 1 user » 2018-12-02 00:01:47

I'm using the same credentials as I used before the update. They worked before the update. I assume they should work after the update too.  I ran File Zilla's  network configuration wizard and got a message that  I have a wrong external IP address. I went to their forum and did some reading about it but I didn't understand. None the less, I tried entering my own IP address which made no sense to me. Of course, that didn't work.

I then set up an account with File Zilla with a user name and password which I assume would allow me to communicate with them.  When I went to sign in, I got an error message that the credentials were wrong. I tried getting a new password and was not allowed to do so. I also tried to communicate with them using g mail. They do not allow g mail to be used. I used a previously and unreliable e mail (Charter) and was able to get an auto-response e mail back. I'm now am waiting for a reply from them. Not sure if the lack of response is due to the unreliable e mail or my response to the auto-response or if they haven't got to it yet.

Interestingly, I can still publish from LR. But I get a message that the album is protected. Never got that message and can't find a way to unprotect it.

I've recently upgraded my modem and wondering if that somehow is the problem. Not sure as to how to work with that.

I'm going to take another shot at understanding the "wrong External IP address" part.

#43 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Getting Backlight 2 for a Backlight 1 user » 2018-12-01 09:51:29

yes I did. But it had no effect. I think therefore I can assume that that's not the problem, correct?

#44 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Getting Backlight 2 for a Backlight 1 user » 2018-12-01 06:39:07

OK got the down load. Another problem. I'm using File Zilla and just updated to the latest version. Now I can't get to my remote access to see my folders on my site. I'm thinking my Malwarebytes and/or Windows Defender are the problems by not allowing me to get through. I can't figure out how to make an exception in either program so as to allow the connection to take place.  i can't get to File Zilla to help me deal with the problem. Is there any way you can help?

I own BL1 and want to purchase BL2. I assume there is a discount for the update. I can't figure how how to get it.

#46 Re: Backlight Support » November 1 update problems » 2017-11-13 01:08:06

So all I have to do to publish from my laptop is to set my Filezilla up to point to the files/folders on my site. I should use my desktop's Files zilla as a guide. Then make sure I have publisher plugin on my laptop's version of Lightroom and I should be good to go. My work flow involves developing images on my laptop in the field, then exporting the catalog from my laptop, then importing them into my desktop.  Correct? FYI-My desktop is my main computer to which I have a number of external drives attached. They are where I keep the images as well as all the backups.

I've used Voyager in the past and have been very impressed with it. But I'm not sure how it fits in here. Please advise.

#47 Re: Backlight Support » November 1 update problems » 2017-11-10 23:55:50

Thanks for your explanation in #17 above. After thinking about it and based on my level of competence, I've decided to leave things the way they are for now. It's working. I'm quite interested in seeing the video that Matt will be making on the subject however. I assume I will have to simply keep an eye out for it rather than looking for some sort of announcement from him that he made the video and it's available to users. 1. Is that a safe assumption? On a separate topic.

2. I'm wondering if I can have  Backlight set ups on two different computers? I have a laptop that goes with me everywhere that has Lightroom 5.7 installed. At this point I use it to develop images away from home but publish them to my website from my desktop computer. My desktop of course has Backlight and is where I do all the publishing. It would be nice but not necessary to have the capability to publish from my laptop as well as desktop.

#48 Re: Backlight Support » November 1 update problems » 2017-11-10 07:32:54

Pangolin looks interesting and would like to have it. I'd like to see the video that Matt mentioned he was going to make before I tried the migration. But couldn't I just start over with my galleries using pangolin and avoid the need to migrate? It seems to me that I could simply upload the module pangolin files (I think there are 3 of them), delete the old okapi files and develop a new template. Then upload the new albums and I'd be good to go.

#49 Re: Backlight Support » November 1 update problems » 2017-11-09 23:10:22

Thanks. I saw what you did. That begs the question how can I become up to date in Designer. I thought I was already there. I must have missed something.

#50 Re: Backlight Support » November 1 update problems » 2017-11-09 07:37:14

I deleted the old folders and uploaded the new files and got the same message. BTW- The first time I uploaded the six module files and confirmed they were uploaded but two files , the okapi-core and the pangolin-core files were not listed in FileZilla. The second time I uploaded all 6 and they are all there now.Any other ideas?
