#26 Re: Backlight Support » Why does my about and contact page look like my home page? » 2016-05-18 04:31:26

Tried a couple of different ways.   The menu item I assume is Pages then contact or about.  The contact option is missing.

Entering about/ or contact/ does nothing.

#28 Backlight Support » Cannot change or correct or remove Album set from home page » 2016-05-18 03:04:14

Just building my site with a single album set containing other album sets.  I set up the home page with an album set. Then I modified all the albums and albums sets to have a gray background.  I could not no mater what get rid of a white border or background around the home page gallery.

Being very confused I attempted to remove the gallery by setting off the insert album set option.  The original gallery remains on the home page and is not getting removed.  I have tried selecting an album but the original album set remains.  The gallery from the main menu is displayed correctly without the white boarder.

How do I get the boarder to be the same as the menu item displayed.

I believe I have made an invalid assumption.  I thought that migration ment the structure of the website would be copied from old to new.  I think what I must do is rebuild my entire website using the designer and recreate the exact menu structure again with the same galleries/albums.  Then and only then will the Migrate albums work.  Nothing seems to migrate even though it shows complete.

#30 Backlight Support » Migration - Does the API Key need to be the same? » 2016-05-16 22:28:04

In the quick setup you need to set the API Key.  I don't remember what the last one was and of course it is hidden and you cannot copy it.  Does it need to be the same between CE4 and Backlight?

or to remove all albums within your Backlight instance prior to migrating from CE4.

The above is in the migration documentation.  I have done the backlight install and the publisher install.  I have not done or looked elsewhere.  I would now like to migrate my albums.

Can I just go ahead and migrate or do I need to remove something?

#33 Re: Backlight Support » Migration to Backlight » 2016-05-12 23:38:38

home  20 images
recent 20 albums 100 images
selected 3 albums 400 images
galleries 20 albums 500
projects 30 albums 600 images
places 10 albums 200 subalbums 2400 images
years 20 albums 200 subalbums  9000 images

I have over estimated by looking at lightroom numbers and rounding off to a little bit of future.  Remember this is non-commercial fun use and I would live within limits placed.  Images can be placed in multiple albums.  I only place selected photos on the web so my current limits to pick from are 60k images.  Hundreds of thousands is way beyond my limits.

Hope this helps.  Any guidance would be willingly received.

My website is a personal photo album and not a portfolio.  It has many menu items for many different galleries.  Each menu item is a separate Publisher Service listed in the Publish Manager. Each Publish Service has many galleries.  I don't know if this is normal or not.  I had a lot of difficulties getting the website going.

The question I have is will this structure migrate ok or will I be required to set up again all the galleries and sub galleries and republish everything again.

#35 Re: General » Lightroom Plugins Lost » 2016-01-23 00:38:41

The final solution was to restore the "Preferences" directory of the Lightroom Appdata.

Thanks to all

The metadata has been mark for saving to xml. I don't see any xml files in directory so I assume the info is in dang files. Am I right?

If I understand what you are saying I go back to the older catalogue with the Lightroom plugin information although it not update it's better than loosing everything. Then upgrade the catalog with the xml data. How is that done?

#37 Re: General » Lightroom Plugins Lost » 2016-01-20 01:44:44

Yes still working that angle of going back to previous catalog. I have a bunch of edits done since I'd prefer not to loose.

The problem began with Adobe Lightroom upgrade that dropped all plugins. Stupid me didn't fully connect with the situation and continued editing a damaged catalog. I'm wondering how to go back reclaim old catalog without loosing all my edits. It's a messy situation.

#38 Re: General » Lightroom Plugins Lost » 2016-01-20 01:11:18

I have a menu years with all my history. So "years" is a directory all set up.  Within this directory is an entry for each year. I altered the slug to put then in reverse order. So at the present time I already have a directory 2015 under year - thus year/2015 or rather year/9922015.

If I add to the publisher 2015 it already exists and therefore creates a different slug for the directory.

I think what you are saying I must restart completely. I can not just connect with a pre existing directory.

And to do that cleanly I must remove it from the database as you pointed out.

Am I understanding correctly?

Again thanks much for your help.

#39 Re: General » Lightroom Plugins Lost » 2016-01-20 00:47:12

Ok probably gone and will need to be recreated.

Can I reestablishe a connection to an existing directory with modified slug rather than recreated everything. This way I could rebuild slowly because the website as it exists is ok?

Can we get in contact with developer. I have the web stuff ok. Only lost the publisher info.

#41 Re: General » Lightroom Plugins Lost » 2016-01-19 09:17:12

A recent install of lightroom removed all my plugins.  I reinstalled the plugin ok but the content is empty.  Do I need to rebuild everything or is there a way to reinstate previous albums and smart albums?  Is this backed up somewhere?  I do have full backup.

I am an old and I mean old mainframe programmer wanting to build a simple site from Lightroom and Turning Gate.  My first attempt leave me very frustrated, but with varying success.  I like very much the demo samples and look of the results.  It's the building that is giving me grief.

I could go for a refund but that would not give me the site I want.

I probably will fight through the problems but was wondering if there where consultants willing to jump start me through the difficulties.

I see the problem as, it's on my computer with my resources.

Any suggestions?
