Hi Chaps,
You are going to think I am a real numpty asking all these questions but I have been trying to see how to implement my different gallery types and use the rather neat menu set. However, I'm coming up with obstacles that may or may not be of my making.
In CE4 I had 1 Publisher, different templates and three galleries - Arts Practice, Commercial and Edgelands. Albums sat under these.
I'm just trying out the first two in the test build. I've tried two methods, One Publisher instance and two publisher instances pointing at the sub-directories. I get a positive result on authentication. However I was not seeing what I wanted to see on the site so I have tried one instance of Publisher
The Publisher bit looks like this
On clicking Publish on either of these Albums in the Album set I get
This error has been cropping up most of the day.
I use Album sets well in CE4. I may be missing a trick with the Backlight process though.

Thanks Rod. That is a really useful guide for the people who seldom tread in these areas.

Thanks Matt
Hi Chaps,
I have been experimenting (for me that is) with placing images inline with text in Page Copy areas. I used that really useful guide that Rod published here for CE4 about Markdown. I can see that one can force left or right alignment with a css statement but centering an image seems to be a default and one that I wanted but cannot get to work.
I created a page template with 3 columns for this page with the split option.
In this screenshot you can see the Markdown script and the result. I like this feature a lot - so much more valuable in seeing the effects of changes.

Is there something I am doing wrong here?

Thanks Matt,
I take these things slowly so as to try and remember what I'm doing and although I've not touched on Galleries yet, this is a vast improvement on the shenanigans of working inside LR. I like the fact that this is an iterative development and release process as it gives the opportunity to take things on board without being overwhelmed.
I doubt I would have assigned a Must or Should do to this for a first timebox release.
I'll look forward to a function later on and get back to the basics of making my pages look right.

TomO
Hi chaps,
Where in the designer can I set the background colour to the contact form response message?
[http://tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/Screen% … .13.30.png]
I can set button colours, hyperlinks etc in the tools offered but I do not seem to be able to find an option for this apart from the text content.
Ideally,I'd like to set the value of the background to this splash message to something already in my pick list for the pages I'm working on.
I dare say it might be a CSS thing but I'm trying to work through what is available in the basic toolkit first.
Thanks
TomO
Thanks Rod,
Never thought to look in there!
Sorted.
Thanks
TomO
Hi chaps,
I noticed this the other day but my mind was not focused on that issue but today, I have been getting my head into editing content on pages - just basic stuff.
Anyway, on the Contact form there remains Latin placeholder text that is not in the page designer copy area.

Any ideas?
If you need to look under the bonnet Ben, the credentials have not changed.

Just follow the upgrade instructions. The full package is for new buyers of the product. You have to start somewhere.
Hi Ben,
Just done that. Replaced the one file and set the menu back to URL & galleries/ and back to normal thanks.
TomO
I got the same error and the temporary fix fixed it
Will do Ben.
Hi Ben,
755 was the initial setting where I could not access the Admin console. I changed to 775 but nothing worked until I set 777. I somehow don't like to see 777.
I have just come off the phone to my ISP and I have had to request the re-instatement of a test domain off the root as I cannot create them.
I've been with this ISP for many years and all my telecoms broadband, office lines, mobile web hosting are handled through them and I'm not in the space to have to change everything.
I've asked for the same environment as http:tomowens.openpoint.co.uk so that there are no variables getting in the way.
I'm not sure how quickly they will react to this formal request.
In the meantime, did you want to take a look under the hood? If so I'll email the credentials.

TomO
Hi Ben,
Thanks for replying to this.
I looked at file permissions in my CE4 instance and they are working with less permissions than I had to set for Backlight.
I decided to delete the BL instance from the server but for some reason Filezilla is unable to delete the installation so I renamed that instance and created a new installation.
Before making any changes to folder permissions I tried to access the Admin console. I then incremented the permissions to 775 with the same error then set the permissions to backlight/data to 777 and backlight/galleries to 777 and got the admin console.
Initial login attempt
mkdir(): Permission denied|#0 /hsphere/local/home/t23728/tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/test/backlight/framework/helpers/GenericApplicationHelper.php(144): ErrorHandler::handleError('../framework/.....') #1 /hsphere/local/home/t23728/tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/test/backlight/framework/helpers/AuthHelper.php(59): GenericApplicationHelper::makeDataDirectoryIfNeeded('../framework/.....') #2 /hsphere/local/home/t23728/tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/test/backlight/framework/init.php(120): AuthHelper::handleSession() #3 /hsphere/local/home/t23728/tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/test/backlight/admin/index.php(17): require_once('/hsphere/local/...') #4 {main}|URL: /test/backlight/admin/index.php
After setting data and galleries folders to 775
mkdir(): Permission denied|#0 /hsphere/local/home/t23728/tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/test/backlight/framework/helpers/GenericApplicationHelper.php(144): ErrorHandler::handleError('../framework/.....') #1 /hsphere/local/home/t23728/tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/test/backlight/framework/helpers/AuthHelper.php(59): GenericApplicationHelper::makeDataDirectoryIfNeeded('../framework/.....') #2 /hsphere/local/home/t23728/tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/test/backlight/framework/init.php(120): AuthHelper::handleSession() #3 /hsphere/local/home/t23728/tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/test/backlight/admin/index.php(17): require_once('/hsphere/local/...') #4 {main}|URL: /test/backlight/admin/index.php
Once logged in with the default credentials I changed and saved the basic first screen without an error this time.
I then went on to create a few extra pages without entering any content and they saved OK.
I navigated back to the Designer menu and bingo error message
[http://tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/Screen% … .16.30.png]
I can check with the ISP about my permissions but all the previous CE4 stuff worked OK under the tomowens.openpoint.co.uk domain.
I've just got to nip out back in 45 minutes or so. If I do not a sensible answer from my ISP, I'll email my FTP credentials. Incidentally in the meantime the guest access for this instance is the same as I mailed you yesterday.

TomO
Thanks Rod,
I have just tried logging in from the iPAD in attempt to be sociable and have a change of scenery. Logged in OK but when I clicked on Backlight Settings I get the same error message. I'll email Ben the credentials.

TomO
Hi Rod,
All I managed to do was change the default values on first entering the admin console. The error came up on the first save, so this the 'norm' for me as I have not experienced any other state. I had held back from installing whilst I read everyone elses posts so thought it was safe to do mine!
The Backlight instance sits at http://tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/new as my CE4 instance sits one level above. From what I have read, that would appear to be an OK place to put my dev version.
Hope you are well away from the wild fires?
TomO
Just come back to the desk after a break. Logged in to the console and got the same error immediately. No point copying the link as it is the same message.
Thanks
TomO
I am getting this error sometimes on login to the admin console. The first time was on the initial save after making the basic changes to the admin form. Prior to getting access I had to set folder permissions to 777. ( my CE4 instance is 775 but that did not work and 755 got me nowhere)
Not sure what triggers the error at present, or indeed what it means.

This instance was just after I added the Cookie page to the menu.
Very early days for me having only installed a few hours ago. I ignored the first instance but this is the third time now so thought I'd better do as I was being instructed - especially as it is a big red box.
Thanks TomO
Looking good Matthew.
The footer has all rights revserved appearing twice bottom left hand side.
I like the clean look of the pages

Hi,
I thought I'd let you know that with WP4.3.1 the visual editor came back to life. I had forgotten how long ago I posted the original question but Ipromised to let you know if things changed.
Regards,
TomO
Thanks for taking a look Matthew. I'll continue trying to resolve this. I'll post a reply when I get things working again.
I realise I am not alone with the problem of the Visual editor not working in WP4.1. This is a request to find out if other TTG people are suffering and if so how did you fix it.
I have trawled through endless and mostly unhelpful WP topic pages and WP point to disabling plug-ins and themes and trying their standard themes yet none of this has had any effect.
I get the same problem of no Visual editor in OSX - Yosemite or Win 7 Professional and Firefox or Chrome in both OSs.
I can post a post in the Text editor but I am a simple soul who likes to use the Visual editor in composing posts. I suspect WP introduced a bug but several re-installs have not cured it nor has the suggestion of turning off the Visual editor in my profile and saving then re-enabling and saving.
Is anyone else experiencing the lack of a functional Visual editor using this same combination?
WP is hosted in my sub-domain and everything else is OK
Glad you found this thread useful. I'll take a look at your suggestions.
I have now done the same. Updated the phplugins.php with daniel's extra bit of code, commented out the custom.css and made the changes that Michael made to turn off the pop up and bar after accepting. Now I know it is working I am happy with the pop-up and bar behaving this way.
All in all a satisfactory outcome.

TomO
